The other day, I noticed an ad on Help Island for the SS Galaxy, the huge 3-sim cruise ship build. I'd never been there.
The very next day, a noob asked me where he could go to find a sauna. Not wanting to send him to some orgy place or to a friend's house, I suggested the Galaxy. I figured any decent cruise ship just HAD to have a hot tub or two. He said, "great...will you come with me?"
Well, since I didn't KNOW there would be a hot tub there, and not wanting to give a new resident a bum steer, I came along.
So POOF we both went. And what do you know? The Galaxy is a great build! I can't believe I've been this long in SL without seeing it. I spent bits of yesterday and today just exploring it a very little, including sailing a dinghy around the thing.
I'm sure I'll be back, and take others there to explore further.
So, if you too are in a rut...always going the same places, doing the same things...try something different. Not the Galaxy necessarily...just get out and surprise yourself.

We've always planned on going back there, but we keep finding new places. From August.

I know I've been there but I can't seem to find any pictures. Here's another ship to consider: Titanic. Large ship. Not 3 sims. Picture is from November. Of 2007.

It's a great place!!! We played miniature golf, did some skeet shooting, and ended the evening dancing under the dome (and we had the place all to ourselves!!!):

Having once DJ'd a wedding reception at the Galaxy, I'm familiar with it. Very nice place and great for a wonderful ceremony with that somebody special you want to partner with, a nice intimate dance and conversation for two, or just having fun exploring the place.

I got a notice shortly before Christmas saying that massage gift certificates were available at the spa on the Galaxy and I thougth it might be a nice gift to give to a friend or two. I TPed over there and quickly found the "clothing optional" health spa and there was a sign there that gave out a note card about the massage services available on the Galaxy. It listed the types of massages available and the hourly rates. At the end of the note card it said something like "please be advised that these rates are for theraputic masage only. Other services are negotiable". After some further investigation of the massage therapist's profile it became clear to me that she was also an SL escort. I have nothing against that... to each his own. I was just surprised that a classy place like the Galaxy would have something like that going on.

OMG! Sex on a cruise ship?! What is this world coming to?
Wait...wasn't there a popular TV show back in the 70's..."The Love Boat"? You must have been in the monastery and missed it.

I visit the Galaxy from time to time, usually to dance in the ballroom or show it to someone new. It always impresses me. Never understood why it isn't more crowded than it is... last few times, I saw 2 other avs, total, and no actual employees.

I discovered the Galaxy early into my life here quite by accident. I was searching for a free facelight of all things and for some reason, the Galaxy came back as a "hit" of where to find one. I've been on several cruises in RL and was quite astonished at how well they've managed to get the feel of this thing looking like a real cruiseship with all the perks one would expect. It's just lovely and I'm only sorry I've never visited it with someone who would have made it a romantic visit, not just a side excursion in my SLife. Highly recommended!

Yup! The Galaxy is a top notch date spot. Loads to do, plenty of quiet little spots to get closer, and a grand ballroom. We had a great time the night we went there.

From: Eli Schlegal Oh trust me.. I am FAR from a monk. I just thought it was unusual in that setting to see prostitution being advertised. Thanks for that remark...I had meant to add, it doesn't sound like it was very blatant advertising. One relatively innocuously-worded comment in the price list. After that, you had to go look up the masseuse's profile to learn (infer, actually) anything more. Which you did. And this is very much in keeping with the rest of the Galaxy build...as Elora says, it's very true to the atmosphere of a RL cruise ship. I ate in a dining room an awful lot like that ballroom in the Galaxy's aft section once, on Royal Caribbean. If you've ever been on a cruise, and had a massage...didn't you wonder if that pretty masseuse might offer more, er, "personal" services? If you asked nicely?

True Story: I went for a massage at a local hotel near my office about a year ago. Mind you, I'm female and certainly wouldn't expect anything improper to occur, let alone with a female masseuse no less. And in a respectable place (supposedly). While receiving this massage, which was being done by a foreign person, she kept getting closer and closer to certain areas of my body which usually are NOT touched. I know; I go for many massages and had never felt like I was on the verge of someone waiting for me to ask them if they gave "other services". I absolutely felt like she was trying to entice me into making a request for "extras". Those fingers were lingering dangerously close to some very sensitive areas! Obviously, I didn't. Not my thing, let alone with a women - I just don't swing that way much to the chagrin of many I've met but I especially wouldn't ever pay for something I couldn't have gotten for free at home! (I know, all you guys are going "Pictures! Pictures!) I think it was because the spa was at a hotel which catered to foreign clientele in NYC. Normally I go to holistic spas and usually in my home area which is a rather upscale neighborhood or in ritzy hotels while on vacation, where this type of behavior I think would be frowned upon. Anyway, just a little side note that these things do happen in places where you don't expect them. People do need extra money and I suppose this is one of those easy ways to make it in an industry where one can easily hide how the extra cash was made. So, having someone rendering services in SL on a cruise ship? Meh. Big deal.
