From: Wildefire Walcott If you work in an office and read the forums and respond to offline IMs while at work, someone could just glance at your screen and see your user name. Another way your RL info can seem to leak out. Of if your IT department snoops your HTTP requests or your email...

You are definitely slutty in the best possible definitions of the word. Dirty, hot, and a little scary, but in a good way. I'd like do awful things to you, but I'm pretty sure you'd snap me in two like a twig and leave me cross-eyed, dizzy and confused. I'm giving you a 9.8, tied for the top rating ever given. Almost off-the charts slutty. Shame on you and congratulations. -- Trout

From: Chris Norse I am totally safe in that, no one but me has access to my computer. Well the dog, but I never taught him how to read. Just because you never taught him, doesn't mean he doesn't know how. Be afraid....be very afraid Edit: Sorry...I couldn't resist. It's a very slow boring friday afternoon at work right now. Only 1/2 hour to go, though.

That's why I don't like apartments as the owners are not always online. I prefer my own parcel to be able to put up security systems, ban lines, or whatever is necessary to solve that problem.

From: VooDoo Bamboo Its going to get to the point where SL people are going to start having to fight fire with fire in world. Back in Beta and afterwards, we could defend ourselves against griefers. I guess LL instituted their no shoot/orbit back policy because many disputes are purely one person's word against the other. Its practically impossible to prove who shot first or made the first provocative action.

I just stopped caring at some point...I've been online ever since the first "mailboxes" in the 1980s, and on the Internet since 1993. I'm very much a public person on the 'net (web site, blogs, my RL occupation at uni....), and I refuse to be scared. But I agree it's not everyone's cuppa tea to have online and real life merged in such a fashion...I can search myself on Google and get quite a few hits, and I have learned to defend myself, both virtually and in RL (even physically, should that problem ever arise-I've done a few self defence classes... ) Cheers, Alexandra Velten (harass me online and you will see what I can come up with .... )

From: Har Fairweather I think it's already past that point and has been for some time. People need to do what they can to help make SL an unpleasant and counterproductive place for griefers. pointing and laffing seems to work. that and ignoring them....

There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

From: Maggie McArdle pointing and laffing seems to work. that and ignoring them.... If you have a good shield system, one the griefer cannot penetrate, and the time and patience, playing "therapist" and following them around interrogating them about their "motivations" often drives them absolutely nuts. I've driven one pretty sophisticated one clean out of the sim that way, and another, less sophisticated one to log off completely. More than one way to skin a cat - er - griefer (don't want to offend any nekos : )). And this one is completely un-ARable. : )
