How about a teleport maze of sorts?

Imagine a disjointed mansion. You walk into the foyer and the far walls are gone. When you look where the walls once where, you can see where the adjoining rooms are floating in the air at a negligable distance. You have to use unmarked teleporters to get to the different floating rooms. As you try different teleporters, you can end up on a random tour. Start in the foyer, grand hall, back hall, kitchen. Or foyer, servants quarters, stables, west bell tower lower, west bell tower upper.

Or maybe not even that fancy. Just a bunch of floating platforms with various furnishings and unmarked teleporters. I just might have to do something simple like this as a proof-of-concept.

I always thought it would be cool to have a swamp sim.....an entire southern bayou with dilapidated old wooden walks meandering thru and little shacks...maybe some lights strung in the mangrove trees.....bit of cajun music playing. I don't know....but if I were going to do an area that big...I think I'd try that first. I've yet to see a really cool looking southern bayou. You could have air boats and gater wrestling :p (nope, I'm not southern, I'm a Yankee...lol but there's a sultry gritty appeal to a genuine bayou)

I can supply some photos. I drive through swamps like that everyday. (elevated highway) Throw in some airboats, pirouges and duck blinds.

A big swimming pool with dance area.

That has been done already. Some guy in Fenland West, throws a party there every Sunday afternoon at 4PM.

As I recall, it was a Flintstones sim on the surface, with a bizarre line in BDSM poseballs hidden away in its buildings. Most peculiar.

edit: just took a look-see at the miniature golf course...can't wait to play! Thanks again.

Build a set of different scenes that change from one scene to another, every prim visibly changing position, size, textures, and other properties. Have it change at intervals or when a switch is pressed.

This is a cool idea. I have a friend who rented a skybox that had a room whose function/look/furniture could be changed with a touch of a pad on the wall:

1. Kitchen
2. Bathroom
3. Terrace

Important safety note: do make sure no one is in the room when effecting a change. That skybox was REALLY high up. :D

I think you should build a paradox of mirth and woe.

If that seems too simple then I have often toyed with the idea of building a miniture city or town keep the tallest builds below waste height and you can then stomp around like king kong or jump over tall building like superman.

Have you visited Tableau? That's exactly the sort of thing you describe, and it's a truly superb build, well worth spending time exploring and loads of fun.

I like the maze idea, but not a hedge maze or other open maze...

I found a maze last year around Halloween that was all enclosed, and each part had the WEIRDEST texturing. There was one hall that looked straight out of Doom, a jungle room, a hall with the prettiest retro wallpaper which somehow managed to be scarier in its way than some of the intentionally scary ones, a hall filled with tentacles that flopped around as though they were trying to batten onto you... There were two levels, traps (like a moving floor, or a door that put you back at the entrance of the room you'd had to cross to open it). It was very eerie, never dangerous or blood-curdling, but very disquieting if you were alone late at night.

I think it was called Hell and the region was called something like Glencoe, but I don't think that was the exact name. It was gone a few weeks ago when I went back to look for it.

I'd love to see what kind of maze you would build, Kiera!

That's what is so cool about a maze you can put anything in it. You can keep changing it too. Dang. I wish I had a bunch of land to make one myself!

A bunch of bot only camp chairs (over 30days only)

Set land to combat enabled, set up a sniper tower in one corner.

Set up a couple weapon resale vendors in the tower.

Profit ...

This idea is genius. Mark me down for a sniper rifle and a couple hours of range time.

Keira, wut do you enjoy doing while in SL? make it your haven.

Thing is, I enjoy building ;)

Everything else I do involves my Domina and sister(s) so I can't really do that much usually.

Well..can but don't. I'm always trying to think of stuff to build, so I run out of things to think of to build and then my brain goes 'bleah'

OK!

So. At this point, here's what I'm planning:

A small hedge maze on the ground, fountain in the middle, all that. Mostly for looks.

In the sky, closed in maze where parts of it are fullbright and you have to pay attention to markings on the wall to see where you're going. Maybe I won't do the fullbright bit. But still a closed in maze. Weeee!

And maybe the TP maze as well (Reminds me of Pokemon on gameboy >.>;)

Mmmmm...yeah. I should be getting started later today.

Weee :D

And of course, still open for ideas. I like ideas.

Yes there are. My mind is blank. I was just at one the other day. Had a go-kart track, mini-golf course, a train you can drive yourself instead of just sitting there. Dang. what was that place. It had a store nearby, it was the second island of some store. dang, can't remember.

Oh, and I might as well write this here so I don't have to clog up the forum with posts to the same person: People kept saying you were an alt when you first popped up. I think someone even asked if you were me, or if I was you, or something like that. You know, that alt thread.

If the prims have simple basic texture.. one can store up to 256 images in one prim.. on one texture, thats about the max the definition allows.. after that your just changing pixels, the definition is lost.. but ive done it.. at random, and random colour change.. ie one can cycle 16 images then another 16 from the same prim texture.. on a random cycle and colour change.. one can set the prim to rotate too.. again on a random cycle if desired..its not easy to describe the effect and it requires some understanding of what looks good, not what is possible., so one might have a set of lists in the script that the random texture frame is started from , maybe the colours too and rotation. One can move the prim too.. but at that point your making a media player type visualisation.. not something natural.. its your choice.. but yes..one can make it.

For me that was the intention, create media player type visualisations in sl.. from one prim, with a multi functional texture.

dont follow that road though, unless your able to deal with something that will take you a long time to bring to fruition.. im a year on.. and not there yet.. but i see something new every time i spend time on it... and a lot of time is needed..:) its an adventure..

Well...I was going to do a maze on the ground, but the shape made it so I would've wanted a deck-like thing. So I started doing that, but then I decided I didn't like how that was looking. (The deck thing, not the maze. I have a problem with decks on this land..they never look right to me.) So at the moment, the ground level has a small pond area with a mystitool table, a few dances, and some animals.

There will still be a maze, just in the sky, have to take a break for a little while..

So yeah.. check it out if you want to ^_^

A whole set of regions across the sea and opposite the Tamsi sim are made to be a Bayou, lots of swampy feel to that area, very nice part of the old mainland and worth a boat ride around.

A themed park of some kind with cool stuff to play with. How about Alice in Wonderland...croquet lawn, playing cards, Mad hatter tea party area etc?
