Hi, hoping this is the right area to post - I R n00b. :-D

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone knows where I could acquire something along the lines of a Tuareg tagelmoust/cheche (e.g. and a loose-fitting robe in similar style. It's to play, or at least look like, a mri (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mri_(fictional_alien_species)) of the Kel (Warrior) caste; both sexes of the Kel veil themselves before outsiders.

The look I'm going for is - a loose upper garment, what appear to be shulwar or some other loose pants in boots, and the veil. Also a sword, but I'll worry about that later. One thing at a time. :D

I looked at Gorean Robes of Concealment, which look awesome for what they are (and the functionality of clicking the kerchief to veil/unveil is neat-o) but I didn't see one in black and I don't want to look feminine - I am NOT a "kajira trapped in a man's body." :D

Suggestions for the newb, anyone?

Thanks!

PS: I'm not sure why the links aren't parsing properly, I've checked the option for them to parse automatically. /confused

Hi Gaelforce, welcome to SL and to the forums!

First, the links don't parse correctly because years ago the Lindens got their panties in a bunch about security and broke the bulletin board software here. When posting a link to a jpg, the image will show if you just put image tags around the url (envelope icon on the far left, above the message entry window).

You're interested in a lesser-known roleplay, but the outfit looks pretty doable. Have you searched Groups inworld to try to find other people interested in the same roleplay?

There are a lot of warrior Drows and Gorean merchants who walk around looking like that. Have you tried Avilion Mist, a shopping place for roleplay clothing? There are a lot of these places .. I would also try Caliber in the Rivendell sim. There is also a Roleplay Mall, which has different buildings for types of roleplay, and each building has a bunch of stalls from various creators ... hmm can't find the place in search right now. Send me an IM if you want me to dig up the LM.

I did search, but not with a great deal of luck. "Veil" gives you endless bridal shops, and while my perverse sense of humour thinks it would be hysterically funny to wander around a gay men's bathhouse clad only in a bridal veil, that's not how I want to spend all my time.

I hadn't considered searching for the roleplay - I'm more after the look than the RP, for the moment - thanks for that idea and the store names.

I think I know just what you want!

Try Illusions. Siyu Suen has the Khimar Wrap.

Oh! Well, if you're gonna have a sense of humor about it (shock!), then here's one more idea: Upload that pic (File- upload image), go to the Gorean Hub and hang out for a while. Then give the pic to guys who look like they might know what you want. (there is a shopping mall there that you can cam around while you're waiting for something hilarious to happen). Of course, the more serious kajirae there will be the ones who REALLY know the stores.

I believe the Hub is in Heimdal sim.

Hint: don't wear the bridal veil there.

No one can do a veil like Siyu. For the rest, try to search for Assassin on XStreetsl. You get some alternatives like:

I don't know if you want ninja stars, but since it's Modify you can remove them or shrink them and push it into the body. For boots, you can try

These don't have all the buckles and straps that would be in the way for an assassin.

Having read some of the books in my teens, no, I wouldn't do that.

Boxed Heroes have an excellent freebie called 'Arabian Armor' which is not Arabian or even Saracen at all but is in fact a Selçuk footsoldier. The outfit mostly consists of sculpted prims with exactly the scarf you are looking for in a choice of red or blue along with a cummerbund and helmet sash to match:

Note: I'm sad to see that they have taken down their range of superhero avatars: probably the best examples of the genre in SL. The Batman, Superman, Doctor Doom and Poison Ivy avatars were excellent and really good value with full mod/copy permissions. I hope it wasn't an action on the part of DC or Marvel party poopers that caused them to withdraw the products.

Yes, you can be sure they have been ordered to take them down by LL. Or they did it before action could be taken against them. You haven't heard that a merchant who had a dress called just "Marilyn" had it deleted by LL? Not even Marilyn Monroe, just Marilyn.

Whole story here:

I agree with Jig, it is sexy with men who actually think about how they want to look, not just toss on some ugly freebie and go hitting on wimmen.

I salute you guys who give me something nice to look at. You should know how fast I move the camera around and follow that guy who looks like he spent some time on his appearance.

The Kingdom of Sand sim has a shopping area when you first land (the general building that precedes the roleplay area.) I know it has similar things because some people used to wear them there. (I recommend teleporting, moving a few paces away from the landing pad, then go get a snack or surf the net while the place rezzes, which takes a while. You might even have time to make lunch or return phone calls. Lol. But it has a nice sampling of shops along the lines you seek.)

I saw some nice things for men at Zaara shop, too.

That is just offhand.

"Veil" gives you endless bridal shops

Assuming veils are the same for both genders, I found one or two at places specializing in international outfits. Particularly ones for clothing worn in muslim countries.

So Far So Good

Got the khimar wrap from Siyu and some warrior stuff from... somewhere I can look up if anyone's interested. I've been bouncing around a lot, just exploring. The warrior cape is wonderfully swirly when he moves or turns.

Anyhow, thought I'd share what I got so far.

You can't really see the various shiny bits of metal, but that's the basic look.

Out of curiosity, has anyone read the Faded Sun trilogy, or part of it (Kutath, Shon'jir and Kesrith)? Besides RP possibilities, it's a good read in and of itself, if you like sci-fi.

Explored one of the Gorean sections today. Interesting stuff to buy there, though the RP is completely foreign to me. Orientation and all. *shrug*

I appreciate this - both the location AND the advice to go do something else while it loads. I seriously thought my computer had something wrong with it, but no, things just take a while to render.
