Well I posted awhile back on a poll regarding the two
/327/a8/216091/1.html
for some reason it is locked and no reason given?
Anywho... I decided to set up on Onrez, I admit I don't have all my stuff up there but I have a good amount... not a single sale vs the 30+ items I have sold on SLX during this time...

So is it me? Am I doing something wrong?

Have you actually checked your account on there? I tend to forget about OnRez as you don't get e-mails about sales and then find when I do remember to look that I have actually sold stuff.

Yes, I check it daily... there is an also an option to have them email you a report at the end of each day... but nope, nothing, nada =/

well you have great items for sale but i heard people just are not buying much right now and i personally suspect that many people dont know how easy these sites are to use or that they even exist. i couldnt say but thats my theory

No, it's not you. Onrez does seem to be slower than SLX when it comes to sales.

I think there are a few factors and one of them is that SLB was basically ignored for far too long by the company that ran it. This means, a lot of people just wandered off and aren't likely to come back until the ESC prove they're gonna stick with this one.

Another issue I have is that they have a similar ticket system as LL.. and my experience proved to me that it takes them just as long to be answered as it does LL's. SLX, drop 'em an email and you have an answer within 24 hours or next business day for holidays and weekends. People LIKE that, because it gives them the feeling of security in both purchases and sales.

I'm on both and I have great sales and I don't use the "Hey I'm on the front page at 3k a month" on Slexchange. Best way I found to get sales up and running was that I have a Members' Group that people use to keep informed of news, updates, stuff like that. I also created a little hud that opens up to the catalog on OnRez and put in their Terminals at all my locations. It is all on how you market yourself. Do it well, do it honestly, don't gripe about competition, refer people to others and you will see sales flow. That is just my two cents but it works well for me and both site work well for me too!

I doubt you have done anything wrong there. I have about 10% of my products listed on both sites. I placed the same items on both, at the same time. As of today I have made about 19 sales on SLX, and none at all on OnRez. I started using them both at just about the time SLB changed to OnRez.

Well, technically I have made 1 sale on OnRez, but it failed to deliver and was refunded. With no backup copies of the box possible, OnRez is not a very reliable delivery system when Sl is laggy.

Many people in your thread said they do better on SLX. My business partner and I sell things every single day on SLX (and have done for months). We've had our stuff listed on SLB/OnRez during the same period and haven't sold ONE THING. Fewer people shop there and their search sucks.

Either that was sarcasm, or you Anshe's alt. LOL

Yes, same here, sell 10 times more on SLExchange. Not sure why. Same photos, same descriptions etc. The only thing I have noticed different about the sites is, OnRez allows Keywords, which get gamed a *lot*. SLEx allows free, open search which is harder to game. (instead people game the "popular items" part of it.)

Yes it's not bad, but detail is usually prim heavy.
"Buy my cheap prim heavy furniture ... oh I see you need some more land to go along with that ..." :D

oops sry, didn't mean to derail the thread, carry on. :)

I've been telling people to use slboutique and slexchange for years. Note they both start with "SL". I have bookmarks for SLBoutique. SLBoutique has, I guess you'd say, established itself as a brand in my mind. "OnRez" and "onrez.com" hasn't sunk into my skull yet.

The technical changes made to slboutique over the years which have been carried over to onrez such as menus that appear slowly in an animated looking fashion and enlarged pictures that pop up when your cursor moves across a smaller picture on what was intended to be a path to somewhere else on the screen, making moving the cursor around like navigating through a minefield, make it much less pleasant for me to look for stuff there than it was when it first opened and had a less technically advanced way of doing things that suited me better.

I associated SLBoutique with Flip Peregrine, SL name for someone I'd hung out at the Ahern Morris welcome area back in the old days. I associate OnRez with a company that has no personal significance to me.

I don't buy much, I have so much stuff in my inventory it's hard to want more, but when someone asks where to get something and I feel like looking for it for them, I check slexchange first, and generally don't get around to remembering OnRez. I don't have a single bookmark labled OnRez to remind me of it.

Also SLexchange has the SLExchange forums. For years when people would ask about third party forums I would forget the ones at SLExchange. Finally it sunk into my brain that they were actually pretty good for folks that just want to chat about SL and get a good bit of traffic. So the slexchange forums put the slexchange.com site into my mind, while onrez.com doesn't have any forums.

I suspect that onrez would be doing better if it's name was still slboutique.

I sell items on SLX almost every day, rarely ever see sales On-Rez.

As a general rule my items on SLE sell far better than on SLB/OnRez (with the exception of this last couple of weeks where my SLE sales have dried up a bit), however, I've just reopened a couple of rented stores in SL as I'd been out of world for a while, and have used the OnRez vendors which work very well and are very easy to setup. So OnRez does has its uses as it can give you a web shop and inworld vendors using the same system, and money from sales through your vendors go straight in to your SL account - they don't get held at OnRez waiting for you to withdraw it.

Same here. I used them both as seller, with about 90% of sales on SLX. I stopped using OnRez by now.

Also, when shopping myself I always turn to SLX. Finally, I really think that the name OnRez is counter-intuitive. With SLBoutique you at least knew what they did.

OnRez is getting ready to release their own version of the viewer. If that goes well, you may see an increase in sales.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I'm kind of wary of this myself and not because I think it'd like steal my L$ or anything of that nature. It's more that LL has the unlimited power to screw things up and tends to make outside browsers stop working on a regular basis. Meaning that the developers of this client would have to do a lot of work to keep the client functional and given past track records with SLB, I'm going to wait a couple of viewer generations before I consider it.

Well, I did say *if* it went well. lol That bit about them purchasing a license from LL was sort of interesting though...seems like LL would need to give them a little more consideration than, say, an open source developer.

The point has already been made that if OnRez was called SL Boutique still, it would do better.

I confess to having forgotten ALL about OnRez.

I have about 150 items on both sites. While my slx sales have remained steady, my OnRez sales have dropped to zero since the name change.

I have 40 or 50 items listed on both sites. My results seem consistent with some of the other reports - I do 10x more business on SLX than OnRez. However, I will continue listing stuff with OnRez because it's free, and even though it doesn't amount to much, every little bit helps.

I've found OnRez's email notification thing to be a bit unreliable; more than once I've logged on there out of boredom or to list a new product, and discovered that there've been some stealth-sales that I wasn't aware of.
