Well at least we know exactly what Ciera thinks of everyone here now.

EDIT: And yeah, I don't see any firestorm here.

It does sort of figure that people with a measly five thousand posts would be content to have the post counts wiped.

Just joking. :)

Miss you? Why would I miss vacuous hyper-emotional semi-literate liars?

I have never even bothered to look at the X Street forum. I can understand why it existed when it was a seperate company but why would LL even keep it now that they own it. I bet when the forums get re-vamped (someday) they will just delete it and add an
e-comerce section in the main forums.

The only thing I have ever posted in those forums is for my new releases. Maybe a question or two but not sure really.

Was just reading that little trolling thread over there- I had no idea we were all a bunch of mean SOB's! I thought SLU had that reputation- geesh- if we are such dregs and pariahs, can you imagine the horrible things "they" would say about about SLU folks? I imagine the XStreet peeps are the same as us the same as SLU - just people - period - and it's just a question of getting in and getting known. sounds like the similar argument against the Thread and trying to force the XStreet people into looking like elitists. Or us looking like that to them- meh - whatever.

As to post count- so what?

Well, it makes sense to me, really. Why have redundant systems like that? The question would be more what such a thing would look like when it shakes down?

It would probably "look like" a single forum within the SL forums, that would probably say "XStreet Help & Technical Issues".

That's really all they'd need to add here. Then all the random "product announcements" would probably still go in the same place on the forum here (honestly, I can't see LL letting us keep doing that in the long term, we're probably going to lose the "new products announcements" forum(s) altogether.)

The main problem I see with the XStreet forums, is just the uneven enforcement of rules. They allow political discussion over there, which often turns into country-bashing and political-party bashing.. Stuff that wouldn't be tolerated over here.

There's a lot that really does need to be cleaned up, and I can see LL stuck between a rock and a hard place. They want to have a clean cut image (like Microsoft).. You wouldn't go to the Microsoft forums to discuss politics, you wouldn't go there to accuse people of IP theft. You wouldn't go there to advertise your new program (even if it worked on windows). You wouldn't really even go there to shoot the breeze.. it's a forum, mostly for support and discussion relating to microsoft products.

At the same time, this forum has, for years, been a social 2-d space. We've used it for good, and for bad. Discussing issues of great importance to us all.. at the same time, the forum is a hornet's nest of drama and controversy.. a place to "rabble rouse" dissent. And from a corporate perspective, SL is very much better off without the forums.

Keeping the good, while getting rid of the bad.. is going to be a painful process.. particularly for those of us who come to the forums for a sense of "grounding" when the isolation inside SL gets to be too much.

I don't know what the future versions of the forums is going to look like.. but I have a feeling that a lot of people aren't going to be happy about it. The trick I think, is not to take it personally. There are plenty of other outside venues where we can go, and you're free to start your own as well.

In the end, it will probably be fine... but I don't think we're all going to be meeting up "here" like we do now. It'll just be someplace else.

i think this thread is a perfect example of why there may be the us VS them thing..
You get these brown nosers or as my dad calls them"Bull Dog side kicks" running back and forth trying to get everyone stirred up looking for points to up their status..
they self destruct after awhile..
they are no different at Xstreet forums than us here or in any forum..you have some that will believe the hype and some that know better..
I'm sure like here..the majority there know better..

I used to believe the hype when i didn't know any better but saw how stupid i was being when i finally went over there and read the forums..They have a nice forum there and the people seem the same to me..

Most times when things like forums merge or a community of some kind..the community see's everyone is the same and in time gets a long and the runners that were planting all the bad seeds end up being exposed to both sides for what they really are..

It's a shame some people are just that bored that all they can think of to spend the time is cause friction..
There is enough us and them going on in the world already..
