Blah, Blah, Blah, Friday Thread, Blah, Linden Lab ate a shoe, Blah, Monkeys working on a grid? Blah, Blah Deep Penetration, not what you think. I mean it in the sense of thought and feeling, guess it would be wise to have an example: I have been tagging back and forth on a certain Second Life Exchange Street website, and one of the products struck my fancy. Turns out the product is built like my own in underlying design, but it grabs at a slightly different audience then my own. Picked up a copy to compare and use, plus give the creator some feedback. Well I did so in a comment section, and it turned into a slightly drama filled discussion. One thing with this product was the non mentioned use of ads, or as some know Sponsored. That was really my own personal gripe, others where constructive. Going on in the discussion I kept stating what I thought because the creator kept miss-reading what I was saying half the time. It came to a point that I said F* it and walked away from potentially more drama. Of course the creator then slams me for I think the first time on purpose and brings up stuff I sell, which I cannot see ground for it to stand on. This is all supposed to be generalized because I do not want to call attention to the product like some posts in this form! /me is pointing at you 0.0)> So, the question is: When dose a conversation get to the point where you just walk away, even with the other party still flailing arms at you like a mad man? To keep to SL topic, dose the conversation boil point differ in the virtual world, or the physical world for you? P.S. the "Blah, Blah, Blah, Friday Thread, Blah, Linden Lab ate a shoe, Blah, Monkeys working on a grid? Blah, Blah" is not random, i want that to show to people who just hover over the topic in the forum Oh, and here is a picture (Safe for Work) Deep: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/dc/Penetration_-_The_Best_of.jpg

When I feel like the listener and I are not communicating on the same level. Also, if I am getting caught up in one of those little arguments where both sides end up looking silly...I try to walk away before that happens

I saw Penetration's first gig at Newcastle Polytechnic in 1976 and then again 14 times more up to 1982 and then again once more 26 years later at the beginning of this year, my most favourite band.

If there's spontaneous drama that explodes as described, then you engage in something called trolling tai chi. That is, you say the least possible in order to make them continue to rant on and on.

From: someone So, the question is: When dose a conversation get to the point where you just walk away, even with the other party still flailing arms at you like a mad man? To keep to SL topic, dose the conversation boil point differ in the virtual world, or the physical world for you? I sometimes get very upset in real life but I have gotten to point truthfully I just walk away and I think sometimes it just best to not say anything more, but sometimes it hard to keep my mouth or fingers from talking. It often seems like most people don't get anyone else except their side and are more then willing to go off on anyone.

Just remember that anyone who walks away from an interenet argument always wins. Because only losers argue on the internet.

From: Somatika Xiao That was really my own personal gripe, others *where* constructive. Going on in the discussion I kept stating what I thought because the creator kept *miss-reading* what I was saying half the time. So, the question is: When *dose* a conversation get to the point where you just walk away Obviously I haven't looked at the original thread (though I have checked some of your recent posts on other subjects) , but it strikes me that if you expressed yourself as you have done in your OP (examples of incorrect spelling above only, rather than any specific comment on the structure of your sentences, punctuation and coherence of post overall) then there is significant scope for even those with English as a first language (to say nothing of those who *believe* their English is good enough to participate in a forum discussion) to "miss-read" what you have said. This, particularly where your nemesis is similarly unable to communicate themselves effectively, is likely to lead to escalation of what might be reasoned argument into over-emotional over-reaction. My answer to the question you pose would be to ignore posts from the very outset that suggest from their presentation that the originator is unable or unwilling to comprehend or formulate a coherent written argument, as it will ultimately be a waste of time. From: Oryx Tempel That, or just refusing to answer the phone in the first place. I must win a lot of those it, appears I am one of the few people nowdays capable of ignoring a mobile phone if it rings and I am taking to someone else. And when someone else interupts a conversation to answer their phone they seem to get a little miffed when I walk away and go do other things.

My cell actually spends most of its time in my purse where I cannot hear it. The only time I will interrupt a conversation to take a cell call is if it is my work cell - though I am at least polite enough to say "excuse me, it is work and I am on call".. My personal cell is mostly for emergencies. I survived this long in life without a phone glued to my head - I imagine I can make it a bit longer.
