I have two friends (women) who are both in their 60's who say they want to have "good looking older avatars." I'm not 100% sure what this means, but it seems to involve white hair and an older face that doesn't actually look "haggard," which, one of them told me, is what the sliders give you in the appearance face window. I don't think that what they have in mind is possible, but I told them I would check with people who have been around a lot longer than I have (meaning almost everybody here). TY.
PS. I saw two old lady avatars on xstreet, but they are exaggerated caricatures and not what these women have in mind.

I'm not one for making "me too" posts, but in respect to Brazen Women. Me Too! Top notch work.

MB has older male skins and I'm very happy with mine. I would bet they also have older female skins. It's worth a look.
And I'd applaud your friends for seeing the value in an avatar that doesn't look like a barbie doll. It enriches SL to include a wider variety of avatars. Bravo.

Wow, thank you guys!
Yes, I'm always excited when I see an avatar that is made to resemble real life. I cranked the bustline and butt way down on mine and I'm told I look more "real." I'm happy that my friends have options.

ETD had some nice grey or salt and pepper female hairstyles, if I recall correctly.

Since we have leads now on attractive older woman avatars, are there any leads for stores with appropriate clothing?

Cubic, LeLutka - off the top of my head those both have button down shirts at least. "Appropriate" is a big category - people can be into almost any style at almost any age.

Melita, you are right. I should have been more specific. Neither one of these women wants to stand out by wearing big gowns or elaborate outfits....they are both pretty much "nice pants and a nice top" types, with the top not being a revealing one.

That's going to be the big challenge. . .the clothes. Good luck.

For fun, you might want to check out retro clothing from Jet Dolls or Kru's Boutique and branch out from there. Also, don't be afraid to IM store owners for suggestions and ask what the models in their vendors and posters are wearing. (^_^)y

Yes, I've seen some great retro clothing out there, though I've yet to see anyone wearing any of it. I'll run it past them. Oh and Treasure thanks for the lead.

I'm happy that my friends have options. What funny here I cranked up the butt line, but down on the bust, and that gave me what seems to be more real. A look with a little curve and not so boyish. But I think the key for both of us here is the over the top bustlines you often see. I usually see it on boy bodies - the ones with no hips. For adjusting the face slider to get age, work in very fine number increments is what I would recommend. There's going to be a fine line somewhere. Also, just because a dial says it adjusts A, doesn't mean it isn't actually changing B...

I had started out with a freebie shape that had what I thought was an enormous caboose. That's why I had to dial everything down.
I'll pass on your advice; ty!

Ivalde has some nice retro stuff. There are lots of places that sell normal clothes. Nyte N Day has some nice ones.

AV lead

My grandma alt has Maura Middle-Aged Woman by Atea Aeon. Grandma likes it very much. The other older women AVs we found were comic senile. This one is expensive, 2000L, but grandma's worth it.
The AV comes with a "nice pants and a nice top" outfit. However, grandma mostly wears medieval gowns.

I'll try to send you some landmarks to 'nice lady clothes' places AK. I know what you mean now. Just nice normal stuff.

Just been in Papillon at Teal Court Shops - some attractive, yet modest clothing there - including some cable knit sweaters!

My wife told me about a freebie named "grannie's closet" or such at baiastice, it seems to be an "older lady" avatar plus several outfits. I haven't seen it yet, though.

Should any of you Silver Foxes require personal feedback on your avatar (and aren't looking for a toyboy) I have a male Silver Surfer . . . Pep ( . . . with whom you might be interested in a nice game of lawn bowls or something? )

It is upstairs in a little house. The avatar itself is pretty good if someone wants to portray approximately 80 years of age. It also comes with several outfits - all for one $Linden (total.) IMO it's worth it for the clothes alone. Pep now I have that "Yes Man" scene in my mind again. Lol. (Thanks whoever posted that url - I had never known it existed. *shudder*)

Another good place for retro clothes and hair is Ingenue. I also like Ivalde, and 1-800-Betties.
TULI has some good stuff, too - I like the outfits I bought there, but it's been a while so I don't know what she has out now.
Stopped in at Brazen Women last night, and I'll definitely have to drop in again when I'm more awake. I third the suggestion for *nice* older skins and shapes, though.
