There are a lot of places offering rentals. Just search around for them. Some places you have to talk to the owner and pay them directly and some have a rental box that you just pay.

Thanks for the reference. And thanks anyway Ciaran
And the honorable advice is: Scan the classifieds for a place that appeals to you, both on these forums and inworld. There are also a number of good housing directories as well: Rental Central, Home Finders, Rental Advantage, and Lavanya Hartnell's directory are four that I know of and have used/currently use. Rental Central and Rental Advantage have the advantage of giving their advertisers enough prims to show off their openings via rental vendors, and not just an ad board. So you can see available units and their price/prims. If you are on a strict budget, you are likely going to have to share space with others in an apartment building. This isn't terrible, as it is rare for one building to have all its tenants at home at the same time - this is because SL is such an international, diverse place and people play at all different kinds of hours. If you want more privacy, you will need to look for separate houses/skyboxes on their own lot. If you want to put down a lot of fancy furniture, you need to look for an unfurnished place with a relatively high prim limit, at least 100, if not 200. My most important piece of advice is to take your time. There are a lot of offerings, and a lot of decent landlords. Renting is a great way to start making your home in SL and offers a freedom that owning doesn't. And many times, you can get more bang for your buck from renting. Good luck and have fun. _____________________

I've rented in the past from Cristalle and I can say with absolute certainty that she does NOT smell.
B. PS Oh, yeah, and her rates are really reasonable, too ![]() _____________________

Also look for a landlord/lady who's been inworld for a while and be wary it they ask for lots of rent in advance. There really is stacks of land about at the moment, so you may be able to haggle a bit too.
I'd rent from Cristelle too, but she's actually my competition be it though I'm a much smaller fish in the rentals pond ![]() _____________________

I can also vouch for Cristalle
(popular lady ) Her prices are great, and you get a lot for your money. she is helpful too.Another place I have stayed in that I like a lot is Etopia. Pricier than Cristalle's, but gorgeous landscaping/views etc. _____________________

Avion Raymaker and Sarah Nerd are two other options. I would have sent this privately but you need to enable private messages in your user CP.

Don't go through them all in one sitting, but do bookmark the link. Explore a little before trying to find a job, or buy land. Meet people, join some groups, etc. Also, there's a Sticky for the newly born /327/2c/171147/1.html which may help with some of your questions. It's kind of dated, but still full of info. _____________________
