From: Lana Tomba Meade, The purchase of land or the "need" to purchase land just wasnt justifiable to me.. That's fair enough, with the words "to me" in there. I guess I'm more objecting to the people who, on the previous page, say that there's no reason to go premium...

From: Nika Talaj Kitty, I think that by "unverified" you mean both types of Basics here? Sorry . Going to take a while to get used to the new verified/unverified definitions . As far as my post goes: Unverified = No Payment Info Verified = Payment Info (Basic or Premium)

Thank you ALL for your input. I did not see the issue from all of these angles. I knew there would be lots of opinions and that you for them. I still think basic users contribute positively to the game for the most part as do premium members. My RL wife is a basic member with no payment info on file she has a job in SL and spends far more L$ then I do. I wanted to hear some other views on this issue and thank you all for that. Wonders if he would have gotten that much response if the grid was open ~smiles~

Of course there are many reasons to buy land and being a prem member. It's an added boost to your buisness if people can come see your product in world..it's where you build your dreams. Some people can afford to pay monthly to build their dreams (in world)..to make their virtual store front more "user friendly"...even to set up a memorial for a deceased friend..or provide a free thinking free loving community where that person can relax and escape.
I guess I'm a small thinker.. I made up my mind that as long as I could "play" free i would make as much "off" this game as I could without putting out.Yea I'm sure i've generated a very small amount of rl money in the second life commerce by making and selling stuff..maybe even enough to justify not paying. But then again on the other side of the coin I've been able to make what i spend.((plus))..so..if I were required to pay monthly..."Give unto Caeser what is Caesers"

From: A1ex Heckroth No question I guess I just want the free account users to know that not all pay account users considers them to be second class members. I know I was made to feel less worthy by an AV until they saw that I was a pay user IT SHOULD NOT matter but snobs can be found in Sl as well as in RL I don't have a problem with free accounts. That is how I started as well. My problem is as stated above, Alt and Bot accounts created strictly for generating traffic to fool the search system. I visited NOOB Island and saw nothing but gimmicks to gather info, sign up people onto survey websites and every kind of camping there is. I don't see where the profit is unless they get some for driving people to these gimmick websites. I don't get how camping gives them any benefit. But I am still a NOOB. I discovered quickly to avoid places that pop up on top in searches. I search for specific places that I hear about either here or inworld. "G"

A while back, I read somewhere the answer to a question of how internet porn sites can make money when they give so much content away for free. The answer turned out to be that the free samples brought in so much traffic that even though only about 5% turned into paying customers, that 5% was still enough to make plenty of profit.
I would guess SL works this way too. I think of it as kind of like porn for creative people.....
