Since this is about classified I'll add this bit.
While checking the 'All' for a terrafomer I saw where it said something like this ad paid 5000L or 5000L was paid. I imagine this is what that person paid for their ad.
Now, in page one or two and I know it wasn't any page other then one of these two I saw terraform ads one paid 5000L and in the same page another of the same exact type ads paid 247L. So why pay 5k when you can pay 200+ Lindens?
Why such a big difference?

The secret to ad price (and maintaining your sanity): pay per teleport. Do this:
1) Decide what you will pay per referal. For example, you might be willing to pay L$20 to attract someone to your store. 2) Take one ad for L$100. 3) At the end of the week, increase the ad price if you get more than 5, decrease it when you get less. 4) Repeat step 3 until you get close to your price-per-click.
At the end of the day, your profit margin is what matters, not your ad placement. I used to follow the prices competitors set, it drove me crazy. Now I do this, I have peace of mind and don't care what the competition does.

From: Darius Lehane The secret to ad price (and maintaining your sanity): pay per teleport. Is the number of teleports a weekly number? That would be my presumption but it doesn't seem to scroll back when money is deducted for my ad. In fact, when it scroll back seems to be very random which is why I'm confused on this. Maybe I just haven't watched it closely enough.

From: Bradley Bracken Is the number of teleports a weekly number? No, and your confusion is understandable. I make my ads NOT renew automatically, and let them expire, until I find the right cost point -- just make sure to check up on the number of teleports before it expires. I've saved thousands (no exageration) per week on ads, with an overall improvement in net profits this way. I've also noticed that some product types benefit from classifieds more than others.

Why such a big difference? It's because the ads in the All search are not ranked according to money, but are ranked according to the Google ranking alogrithm instead. That's those in the main part. The ones in the right column are ranked according to money.

Why such a big difference? Ricardo, This is what many of us are so pissed off about, and why Cristalle's "would you pay more than 50L" thread is so long lived, and even has two Lindens posting in it. Paid classifieds don't necessarily make for a better experience for you, the shopper, but if LL is going to have such a system, they can't be defrauding the person paying 5000 by placing that ad just as prominently as the person who paid 247.

From: Phil Deakins That's very interesting. I've been toying with the idea of upping my ad from 2501 to 11,000 just to see if it makes a difference. With what you've said, I might just do it to find out. I'm already #1 in the Places tab, #2 in All>Any category, and #3 in All>Classifieds, but it might be worth going right up the Classifieds tab too. If you are already #1 in places and #2 in All, i wouldn't do it. The reason I'm doing it is because thanks to the wonderful new search relevance, I'm on page 4, even though I'm actually selling the keywords, rather than the people on page one who are just listing a zillion irrelevant keywords, and yet, are still somehow more relevant. (probably due to all the campers they have). Sounds like you are sitting pretty. I'm not.

I might still have done to see if being very high in the Classified's tab made a difference, but since I wrote it, the ante for the #3 spot has gone up from 11,000 to over 28,000, so I'll give it a miss at this time..
