Here is what they are saying now on the grid status page
There is a widespread network issue. Our Ops team is working on resolving this issue as soon as possible. Logins are not working and about 9,000 regions have been afected to the point where anyone within them have been logged out of Second Life
We will update this blog as soon as we have any more details.

I just had my internet poop on me so I closed the client and then tryed to relog and now am sitting atthe login screen. noticed on the status page they had problems but now it says all is good. strange It wont let me in either... |

lol to many bots must be trying to login and have the queue all jammed up It's not a traffic issues. It's yet more of the grid techies loading untested bells and whistles without any kind of backup on heavily overloaded servers as usual. |

I have the same problem also, and I'm just reading the SL Grid Status Reports right now as I key this.
I'm reading that there is a widespread network problem. The team at Linden Labs are working on fixing the issue as I post this, and approximately 9,000 regions are affected to the point that many users are logged out of SL automatically. Maybe the SL server finally gave way and crashed due to the total number of users online went beyond the maximum capacity, perhaps? If so, maybe the guys at Linden Labs are in the process of expanding the server to ease the lag at least for a while longer. Please continue checking this URL for any progress updates: http://status.secondlifegrid.net/ EDIT: When attempting to log on a few minutes ago, there were only 40,000+ users online at that moment. Maybe when any of those users log off now, they will have trouble logging back on again immediately afterward. |
