If you could pay LL to upgrade your mainland sim from class 4 to 5, would you?

Maybe someone can answer another question too:
Recently I was offered a half sim on a class 4 server for a tier of 150 USD per month. It was a private island. The sim owner told me that it's a great deal, because 150 is half of the 295 USD she pays each month to LL. Now I wonder if this is true. Isn't tier for a class 4 sim only 195, or is that only for mainland?

Tier doesn't care about server class - it's all about how much land you own.
Full sim tier for island's is US$295/month and mainland is US$195/month. This is the same regardless of the class of server the sim is on.

From: Nimue Jewell I thought some (or all) Class 4 Islands were grandfathered into an older US$195/month tier? While it may have worked out that way, that's not quite right - class 5 servers started rolling out about the same time that LL increased private island tier from US$195 to US$295. Some people that timed things right might have gotten class 5 islands at the old tier.. From: Amaranthim Talon OK - my land is called Slyme and the other is MistoPresto... any clues on class? The SLURL map seems borked right now.. I can't tell but will check in-world tonight, if I remember and nobody beats me to it. If these are not mainland sims, ask the estate owner - nobody else will really be able to tell...

November on the main land was a class 3 why cause there were only 2 sims on the server now there are 4 makes it a class 4 does it not? class 5 hold 4 as well or more? All I know is I wouldn't pay to upgrade to a 5 on main land I would just buy a new full mainland sim and know its a class 5

From: Amaranthim Talon OK - my land is called Slyme and the other is MistoPresto... any clues on class? Both are class 5s. Slyme is on Corsica, has a hostname of sim4703--and the clincher: it's executing scripts at over 80,000 ips (which isn't a good thing, but the fact that it *can* is good). Misto Presto is on Nautilus, has a hostname of sim4878, and was executing scripts at about 70,000 ips when I visited.

From: Janice Betsen I agree. Home is on a class 3 sim. I have two neighbors on the sim and that's it. A beautiful, lag free island. My work place is on a class 5 mainland sim so I can be close to my friends. Any day is a roll of the dice whether you can stay online or not.
Yes, a class 5 is big boost in performance and any class 4 sim will show improvement when moved to a class 5. But a clean sim is more important to performance than adding another GHz to CPU speed. There are no more Class 3 sims in Second Life. LL announced some time ago on the blog that they had all been phased out. You have to be on a Class 4 at the very least.
