I created a group themed after my virtual last name after learning how rare we are. I found it interesting to realize that my last name was only open for registration for less than a week - making us Ansett's truly a rare breed. How do I know this? Because every Ansett in SL has a birthdate with-in the same few days.... Anyway, the group turned out to be not so popular lol. I invited every single Ansett in second life (maybe a hundred or so names), and only four accepted... Was just curious how common my idea was. Don't know that I've ever seen another "Last name" group

An interesting question Jake. Derbor and I were recently talking about how infrequently we see another Torok - perhaps it's time for us to start a group!

I was once invited to a Koala group, and joined it. (Even paid to join it!)
But it never did anything but exist, and eventually I needed the group slot.

I've seen a couple of 'last name' groups. Never belonged to any. I haven't seen a Giffen in SL in many many moons. The older names mght only have a few hundred people but the newer ones have possibly thousands.

Adz Childs has set up an "SL Names" website that tracks last names...which are active, how many accounts have that name, and you can get email notification when new names are released. See http://www.SLNameWatch.com Good show, Adz!

I saw a Steeplechase back last November in a strip club (I joined October) and found a Sausage Steeplechase on SlExchange but otherwise most of the people with my last name (and I just recently went through the list) have no profile information or anything. I know I happened to join during the surge of users in late 2006 so my guess is most of the Steeplechase's decided they didn't like SL. It would be nice to talk to some of my cousins..... LOL post above me is SO easier than what I did last week.

I've run into quite a few of my virtual cousins, and I see from the list that there were an amazing 10,091 one of us "born"! Thank goodness the name has been retired!!

Cool site - thanks for the tip. Ya know what name i hate (sure to offend someone here) but is hugely popular? 'Oh'. There are almost 100000 Oh's in second life!

I wondered about creating a Dada group, or 'clan'. There were quite a few other Dadas about when I joined - one of my earliest friends was another Dada. But most seem to have fallen by the wayside and I haven't met any other Dadas recently.

I was involved in a group activity where another Meiji was also involved - is that perverted?

From: Colette Meiji I was involved in a group activity where another Meiji was also involved - is that perverted? No, not unless it was perverted for Franklin Roosevelt to marry another Roosevelt.

From: Klipang Torok @Derbor - yes indeed - we should! Shall I start a group? Well after looking at SLNameWatch... there are 25000 Toroks.. my feeling of exclusivity has banished... grins What had me a little confused was that there are two Lexiis in the forum... both seem like fun people. .d

I haven't heard of a Talamasca group but I'm sure if there is one they probably spend unhealthy amounts of time loitering in the fantasy RP sims clutching notepads and thermos flasks.

I never met another Saltair but i did look up the name a few weeks after joining, and there werent tooooooo many. I joined in the boom time of late 2006 and expected to see more around. I dont think i particularly want to join a Saltair group, judging from other posters comments who have. I cant spare the group slot either.

I am the only Dickins I know! But I have noticed lately in the forums another Dickins, so maybe she and I should start a group as there seems to be only two of us! (Now I will find out there are hundreds if not thousands, won't I)?

Jewell the number of female Jewells I have in my friends list is far too long to count…
…ok there are 6 of them, I guess i collect Jewells!
I've got on well with nearly every Raymaker I have met, I guess being born a round the same time, means there is one thing in common.
