Problems with groups

Hi there,
just wanted to know if it is only me. I cannot see any group information right now. Every time I click on an object or on About land... it says ??? or (waiting). Very hard to set things up on group land like this.

Some feedback would be appreciated

This has happened with my group land a few times. I was told it is a bug and a restart of the sim corrected it.

Ah, ok, because I experience it on a couple of sims, that's kinda strange to me.

I have the ??? bug near constantly for my Group. It's not sim related. It once cleared with a clear cache, but that's hit-or-miss.

LL knows about it. What they'll DO about it....*shrugs*

Good news is that it really doesn't effect anything. Seems to only be a Client-side visual glitch of not getting the right data. All others in-world see my Group name on objects I rez, even if I still only see ???.

I was under the impression that it was sim related since all three instances it was corrected by a sim restart. Next time I will be sure to try the clear cache and relog thing.

I have the persistant problem no matter what sim I log into (have tried over a dozen). I ~think~ that the sim restart may fix it due to causing all the data in the sim to be "resent" from the database. I'm completely guessing there though. It may also only effect a fix if you own Grouped Land from the ??? Group in that sim *shrugs*

I'm not enough of a geek to know. I'd say to ask LL, but.....yeah.

It makes sense since the cache is so easily corrupted (atleast on my machine it is).

Well, I've just tried to clear my cache. It did not change anything. Still ??? and (waiting). U mean Clear Cache in preferences or erase files from the disk by hand?


In my case the problem is that I cannot deed objects to a group if there is no group present for me. What means I cannot change the land parcel stream by an object :-/

I have already opened a ticket at the support site, wondering they will solve the problem anyhow, cuz it seems there is nothing I can do on my side.

I only do the clear cache from Prefernces. As I said, it works off and on (mostly off). I only get it to clear the ??? bug abut 1 in 10 tries.




In this case, I'd open up a Live Chat tomorrow with In-world Help. More than likely, they can restart your sim. Do a cache clear jsut before and possibly just after. All told, it might be enough to clear your bug. Either way, Live Chat ~should~ be able to help.

More sunshine from the asshat server. I find that when I click the info for ??? it will still pull the group information, most times. Sounds, though, like a network problem. Maybe try reducing downstream bandwidth?

I'm having this problem today. Identical problem with any avatar trying to access the group, and in any sim I own property in.

So am I supposed to have every avatar in my group going around clearing caches and relogging, or else have Lindens come out and restart 4 different sims?

Does anyone else have experience with a solution for this? I'm pretty much at a dead halt as a landlord with this.

'???' is 'Normal'
It happens a lot, randomly, and goes away without any sim restart / clear cache / relog.

For group land, a Refresh sometimes clears it.
About Land - just clicking on info brings up the group info despite the alarming "???"

I think this is SL's way of telling us it loves individuals and not groups?

I've had it change from moment to moment.. seriously, I've pulled up the about land to do an object check and it'll say "???" and then a minute later do it again and my group name shows up. While it is annoying, I'd rather they fix the whole, "camera spazs over hollowed prims" before they fix this.

I logged into live chat, and the Linden online knew what to do with ???, but got the office in a flutter of activity over "waiting" and said this was a newer, or lesser known problem. I had logged into chat after about 40 minutes of the "waiting" message, and for me it was difficult to tell if this really meant "waiting" or "permanently busted." However, as the nice Linden was working on it, it all come back online by itself, so it turned out it really did mean "waiting."

The Linden hadn't done anything yet to try to fix it. But he made a report of it, and that was the end of it for now.
