Is there anyway that LL will supply some sort of verification that a person owns only one account and has no "alt" accounts?

For you, or for someone else? I think you need a court order to get someone else's info. You should probably try opening a support ticket to ask about it, or make a phone call to LL.

oh i should have been more clear...for myself. :)
this question stems from of course an "alt" accusation...
there seems to be no other way to defend the lack of an alt account other than your own word...

Ignore the accusation. Anyone prying into your business to that extent deserves no more than a rude response.

I agree with Lindal. Why go to all that effort for someone who's all rude and up in your business like that? This is SL, everyone can be whoever and as many people as they want to be. Besides, people sign up for alts with fake info all the time, so whoever it is probably still wouldn't be content with knowing that you only have one avatar linked to your real name - they'd still think you had others under false names.

Typically, the person accusing you of having an alt is the person most likely to have several alts of their own.

There is no way to prove you don't have an alt. So you might as well make one

NO. Revealing personal information about other Players is strictly against the TOS.

The only way one Player can EVER access information about what accounts another Player does or does not own would be if you had a legal issue filed against them, and had a court order demanding that the suspect be identified to the Court.

Even then, I doubt that LL could ever make such a determination. For example: If I created one unverified account via my home computer, and created another via a public computer at the local library, provided no payment info for either and only used each account on those respective machines, there is no way that LL could ever link them to the same person.

This probably doesn't help you Mariposa, but I agree with Puppet and Lindal.

To be honest, tell them you've got another 10 and you're starting your own football team and if they don't like it they can kiss each of your 22 tender sweet buttocks ..:)

I have to agree with everyone here.... it's not worth it to try to appease a paranoid person....it's ridiculous. I had a guy (or maybe not lol) insist I was a guy in a girl avatar...the argument got so crazy I muted him.......it's not worth jumping thru hoops to try prove things to some people...they thrive on the drama of being the victim.

Maybe you should have taken him for a quiet, serious conversation.

Sat him down and looking embarassedly at your shoes you say:

"mmm, look I think I owe you an explanation, I didn't mean for it to go this far..."

"It's something I've always thought about and wondered, and then you came along and you're such a wonderful man I didn't ever want the fairy tale to end...."

"But it's time you knew the truth"

At which point you remove your skirt and reveal the biggest eXcite endowment he's ever seen and tattoo'd along it's length - his name in large purple letters.....

Just a thought ....:)

I think these paranoid guys are mainly the ones who never can manage to get any attention from women in their real lives.

Those who can get a RL date are likely confident enough not to worry about it.

Hey.... I'm one of those guys...!

Look to be honest, I'm just glad when I'm getting attention from anyone, who cares what they have secreted beneath their skirt..:)

If you try hard enough, you may be able to convince them that THEY are one of your alts......

Heh heh ... check out the accusers profile, pick a group and tell them you've had your eye on them from xxx club ;)

It amazes me how many people will read a profile that says 'I don't do RL' and still pry.

Well, a few weeks back I had been seeing someone briefly who had several alts (which is a thing she didn’t need to tell me) I just got more and more confused, and lost interest in her quickly. She finally came clean and revealed to me who her other alt was. By then, I was already very interested in and into someone else (Graph smiles at Claire...that wonderful someone else)

Personally I think the alt issue is complicated, and people have alts for different reason. Some are hiding from stalkers, others are trying to work in SL without getting bombarded, and others are spying on their partner to see if they are cheating. Others have multiple personality disorders...the list go on and on. But the main reason people have alts is due to the fact that they have difficulty separating RL from their SL...Dragging all their heavy baggage into SL, all their RL problems, having a hard time liking that they really are. Life is too short to take it that serious, let’s have fun, let’s be ourselves! But alas...not everyone can do that.

I choose to be Graphicguru...good, bad, or indifferent. Graph takes his lumps as they come. And keeps on going. I've been yelled at, cussed out, shot at and killed, ejected, ridiculed, threatened, and the list goes on... but I choose not to start over with another alt. And for those who have alts, please don’t let me know, it only confuses me.

Well, in defense of alts, there is the RP thing, too.

I found that by looking different my alt has taken on a different personality. So she'll go places I won't, or dress the way I won't. Or vice versa. Now I'm confused.

Certainly you could RP this by simply pulling on another skin or whole avatar (I'm thinking wookie, actually) and have at it.

But would a whole new face not suddenly confuse your friends? Virtual or not, I tend to get used to how people look.

I could pick Graph out of a line-up, so to me he wouldn't be Graph if he put on another face. So then, if wanting to RP, one might as well use an alt and BE someone else.

Good point Ciela... yeah there ARE many reasons to have alts...

but I enjoy the reaction of my friends when I (me...the real Graph) show up in say, in a whacky space suit, or as a Jedi Knight, Sith, as a Pirate, and as some of you have seen, as a Gore male slave/chipendale dancer.

No that's not it. If you can't separate RL from SL you are a person who insists on having one avatar. A person who maintains that one to one ratio of self to avatar clearly feels they must maintain that semblance of RL in SL.

Another interesting point Bree... I will have to muse on that one...I dont pretend to know everything, so I will have to consider what you are saying...

I stand abashed at everyones good manners and patience. It shames me to say this suspicious and overly inquisitive person would have got a short sharp 'feck off and mind your own damn business' from me.
But then I dont have many friends, cant imagine why tho :D
