Okay, this is crazy. I log off of SL for a week and a half due to RL stuff. My PC doesn't change hardware or software in that time. No new version of SL, of drivers, or any of that.
I try to log on today, and I am instead greeted with this message EVERY TIME. It appears during the whole 'detecting hardware' phase of the program starting up- I never even get to see the main login screen.
"NVIDIA display driver files from different (incompatible) versions of the driver have been detected.
NVIDIA OpenGLacceleration is disabled in order to maintain system stability.
To resolve this problem, update the NVIDIA display driver. The latest driver is at www.nvidia.com."
I see it, I figure "fine, nvidia's got new drivers, blah blah." I go to the site, look up my drivers for my graphics card (GeForce 8500 GT), see there IS a new driver, download it, and install, and reboot.
Guess what? Still get the message. Can't find where to get OpenGL drivers (tried OpenGL.com, they host the stuff, but it's all devkits and such; I couldn't find any drivers), and I really don't know what to do. I can;t submit a ticket to linden labs about this (and I'm not sure if they could, or would, help), so I'm hoping someone else out there has encountered this damnable problem.

You aren't the only one, I'm having slightly different challenges but it does come down to drivers in the end... /111/c7/260905/1.html

A solution!

I have found a solution, though LL will probably not be happy to hear it: I used a different client. After looking around for answers (as an added note- the current Release Candidate -does- work for me. The main viewer does not), I was pointed to a 3rd-party viewer by a friend of mine. The 'Nicholaz Edition'. http://nicholaz-beresford.blogspot.com/(there's a thread for it here on the forums, too!) /327/5c/205679/1.htmlIt's easy to install, too- it uses all the resource files of the main candidte (the one I have that for some strange reason started to dislike my nVidia drivers.) So here's a solution to this issue!
