Out of curiosity I did a search for this name in SL and found that at one time Protagonist was a last name available in SL. Does anyone know if anyone ever named their resident Hiro Protagonist like the character from Snow Crash and if so whatever happened to that SL resident?

You should just type 'Hiro Protagonist' into Search > People, and see what comes up. If the name comes up with a Profile, send that avie an IM and ask them yourself. They'd probably be glad to talk to someone who got the reference.

Hiro started the first parks and recreations in SL if memory serves me right. He gave us a lot and asked for so little. So few like that anymore.

Actually, that was Higbee Protagonist, Toy, not Hiro Protagonist. But yes, Higbee's a great guy. I'm sure he'd appreciate the sentiment, even if you can't remember his name. :)

There's no Hiro Protagonist with an active account. That doesn't mean there never was one, though. I'd be really surprised if no one ever picked it.

In any case, it doesn't matter now. Once a last name has been retired, they don't bring it back. So there's no chance of you getting that name now, if that's what you're after. If they ever change that policy, I'm sure they'll let us know, but that's how it's always been.

I suspect that Hiro Protangonist was "taken" by Linden themselves ... if I was in charge I'd have made sure no one could have it (think it's safe to say Phil liked Snow Crash - it is great in places and just dire in others, IMO).

I am still amused that two surnames available when i joined, Hitler and Stalin, never got chosen. I wonder why - lol.

***edit Does anyone else find Hiro Protagonist a cringeworthy pun name? LOL ... my favourite pun name ever in SL has to be Noa Vale.

Yes, there was a Hiro Protagonist. No, he was never particularly active that I could tell.

Yes, Hiro Protagonist is an awful pun, metahumor based on the awful puns people often choose for their online personae. Art imitating fiction imitating life...

Two of my favorites, Uagain Oh and EarnFree Miles. I'm tempted to make another AV just to have a good pun name.

It's good to see more oldbies dropping by! Woot!

Higbee's Parks and Recreation Service is still quite active, here's his forum thread on it. He last posted around Halloween. I'm glad it was mentioned, we should put a kiosk at the Hangout, if there isn't one there already.

Yes, Hiro Protagonist is still in SL, although under another name these days.

It's a tremendous, enormous, glorious pun name, not cringeworthy at all. Hiro Protagonist is my all time no-holds-barred favorite name for the, uh, protagonist of a book.

I read somewhere recently that LL was reversing many of the lifetime forum bans. Expect many interesting residents to pop up in one form or another.
