Found this in the event listings... they are announcing it as an event! BANQEX (tm) is a new second life bank. We provide financial services to second life avatars (accounts, loans). New registrations get 5$L instant signup bonus. BANQEX (tm) gives your avatar the same financial flexibility and services as a real life bank would give you. You can recieve money (24/7) even if you're not online. You can create more than one account. You can share accounts with other people and there's much more... Come visit us! http://slurl.com/secondlife/Genesi%20Italia/153/21/23I mean, goodness, how brazen do you have to be? Do you think they could possibly be affiliated with a legit bank and have LL approval? I very much doubt it, and am abuse reporting it.

The Linden Blog says: http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/01/08/new-policy-regarding-in-world-banks/"As of January 22, 2008, it will be prohibited to offer interest or any direct return on an investment (whether in L$ or other currency) from any object, such as an ATM, located in Second Life, without proof of an applicable government registration statement or financial institution charter." This bank claims to offer all the services of a real life bank. If they have the appropriate government registration and have provided it to LL, they would be legit. They don't make this claim.

From: someone As of January 22, 2008, it will be prohibited to offer interest or any direct return on an investment (whether in L$ or other currency) from any object, such as an ATM, located in Second Life, without proof of an applicable government registration statement or financial institution charter. We’re implementing this policy after reviewing Resident complaints, banking activities, and the law, and we’re doing it to protect our Residents and the integrity of our economy. http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/01/08/new-policy-regarding-in-world-banks/The gist of the blog entry seems to revolve around banning institutions which offer interest and/or returns on investments in the so-called bank. That BANQEX listing doesn't mention either, so they might technically be OK.

right but...wouldn't it be safe to assume that if they're so brazen they don't feel as if they have to state they're LL certified? (just trying to be objective ..maybe theyre not certified with LL))

I asked in my abuse report that if LL has approved the operation of any banks in SL, they need to make residents aware of this - otherwise, we'll end up with the same old problem we had before with people taking money and running off with it.
If a bank were to open in SL and NOT offer interest on deposits, why on earth would anyone make deposits with them??? Honestly, what could a bank do for any resident that they couldn't do for themselves? And again, there's always the risk of the "banker" running off with the money.

Would you give your money to someone who can't bother to run their ads through a spellchecker before posting it? Last I saw, my RL bank had that part figured out to, you know, appear professional.

But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

I like the "you can share accounts with more than one person" bit. LOL! Unless you're married, you can't do that in RL, right?

Only rl situation I know is if you're not able to handle your own rl finical situation and need a guardian to manage your bank account, then you might have someone else's name that you're not married too. I don't think I need a Linden finical guardianship here personally. lol

There'll be a prim horse head in any sex bed of the people who AR this bank *sighs* I don't think they got the memo, because it was delivered in the mail, rather than via bullet.
