Do you see signatures?

I'd heard at one point that anyone joining the forums after 2006 has signatures off by default.

Just out of curiosity, do most folks have signature-viewing on, or off?

i find most annoying now, but i do still have them on. thank you for reminding me to clean up my forum viewing. off they go.

It was defaulted to off for me. I only twigged when I read endless posts about signatures and then had a lightbulb moment.

Yes... siggys are sometimes more interesting than the posts.

I joined at the end of 2007 and it was on for me. It took me a while to add Greasemonkey to actually see them well, though.

I have signatures on, but images off.

Thanx Brenda! I hadn't noticed that distinction in the User CP choices. I can now read the witty quotes without the ads. Perfect!

While we're at it. Can someone explain to me why there's a huge space under my posts, and not under other's? Not super important, I guess. I'm just curious...

I keep mine off only due to the fact that I would often find myself getting sidetracked reading signatures, and forgetting what the heck the thread was about anyway.

Ok I'm a bit confused, not that this is any big surprise. Are we talking about the labels under the poster's name, ie. "white dog, red collar", "Save Teh 4umz!!!". Or are we talking about signatures in the message body which I'm not seeing?

Images? Where do those show up?

I can see them but have to admit I'm considering turning them off due to the size of some that I've seen lately...

When I saw, in another thread, someone talking about signatures and preferences, I had not a clue what they were talking about. Guess you can see how much time I spend in forums.

I finally did figure out that User CP stands for "Control Panel". Gotta love "acronym speak".

So, ok, I can see them now.

I have them turned on. I usually adjust user controls right away with any forum I join. I haven't really noticed any super annoying ones from people here. If someone has a long signature or image, I typically look/read it once and then by nature just scroll past it the next time. I like the signatures, a lot of them are funny and I don't mind it when people mention their business in their signature, I have come to the forums a couple times when I'm looking for a certain type of item and remembered seeing a forum member have a slurl in their sig for their store which relates to the item I'm searching for.

My favorite sigs are Trout's ratings, those are hilarious

I have sigs turned on, but they were off by default before I knew what they were. I don't mind them, although some are pretty big. Once I've seen those kinds, I no longer really notice them, just scroll past. However, certain signatures I always look at because they change. Oryx is a good example of that, and although they're sometimes pretty gross, I enjoy reading them. (/me ponders what that says about me)

I have signatures on. I love them. i change mine every few days along with my avatar (though I think this one may last a bit longer) and my User title.
i find them really interesting. even the adverts - i can see who owns what shop etc. It is a little insight into what each person is like.
Well maybe I won't go that far.
Anyway, the default for me was everything on - that was back in ... October I think. So i didn't even think about it until someone pointed it out.

I also have them turned on, I just wish there was a way to make it so I didnt have to see the long codes that are in there while its disabled on the forums. Am I the only one still seeing this and do posters with those sigs containing huuuuge amounts of code showing not see them that way? *scratches her head*

Yes I can see them. I have learned to tune them out, like 99% of the advertising I see.

I never see signatures... where do I turn them on?

Click on 'User CP' at the top of the page. Then on the left, click on 'edit options'.

I like having them on; they give me some insight into the individual posting. I also like it when people use an avatar image on the side. I can then more quickly see who's posting in a thread since I recognize images more quickly than text strings.

Avatar images I agree with for the same reason you mentioned. Today I am enjoying the forums more, however, since turning the images off in the signatures. Great find of the week.
