Drugs in SL?

I just remembered a convo with a friend of mine a while back (In my first week, didn't even know what he was talking about when he spoke about a Gorean girl.. I though it meant she was an alien...) when he spoke about drugs in SL, and that they affected things or something.. he confused me lol

Anyway, is there such a thing? Drugs in SL that impair your vision, speech, etc?

And if so.. why the hell would you do them? You aren't really getting high so..why go through the bad bits but not th 'good'?

Yes there are drugs.
No they cannot affect your avie.

Wait.. I have seen beer glasses that will make your avie stumble and fall down drunk. Not sure where you get it, cause it really doesnt interest me all that much

I have seen the mushroom effects, they seem to cause what appeared to be particle effects

that was when I was new, so was not sure what it was, but memory tells me it was particle effects

and yes I have seen drunken people fall down, as well as ppl smoking pot in game stumble and fall

Thank god they are not addicting...ummm well, I believe SL as a whole is addicting, and has a narcotic effect on most residents (myself included).
I say all this while wearing a silly grin, and drool running down my chin.

I've seen plenty of alcoholic drinks that make the avatar act more drunk as they continue drinking. So doing a similar effect for pot or other drugs probably has been done. Since I have no interest in drugs, aside from alcohol, I never looked for such things in SL.

nope...i'm really wondering why someone would do it in SL when there are no actual 'good feelings' and they just make you seem stupid.. the worst part in my mind is that you KNOW how stupid you look

I have a glass of absinth that makes you stumble and see little green fairies dancing around you. It’s a great to get a quick laugh but I would not spend a whole lot of time wearing it..

At an event, someone gave me a drink. It was a "laced" drink, and the viewer started looking funny, with swirling colors and spinning, and the like.

I've "done" shrooms that make your avi dance and contort, and see green floaty stuff, and acid that makes you see happy stars and hear music and wolves howling and stuff. It's fun for about 2 minutes but worth a laugh.

There are drugs you can take in SL. At least there's drug objects with animations. There's even one store that promotes noobs to sell them as a way to make money.

I've seen people using them. They just let the animation go then type things like "ooooh, and ahhhhhhh. I think they are the most damn stupid thing I've seen in SL and assume anyone using them is way too young to be on the main grid.

I know sometimes our virtual reality sucks but just say no to virtual drugs! LOL

Because Pop Culture Rebels think it's "kewl" and shows how wild and individual they are, just like everyone else. End of story.

There are various "drugs" available - acid, dope, an SL-only drug called Seclimine. Most of the joints and bongs that are around are just objects and don't do anything. They appear to work through a combination of particle effects and animations. Some of them also send you surreal messages in chat. They are quite fun for a few minutes, not as much fun as the real thing, but not as risky either. You wear the object and it then does its thing to your AV. They usually work for a short time and then disappear. Some of them do quite a good job of simulating being stoned, especially if you're a little out of it yourself .

My first week or so in world- someone gave me a drink. I was still in the "wear a box on your head" stage- so i had no clue how to get rid of the thing. I did the fall down drunk thing and could not stop! It was horrible - and this guy kept asking why did I drink - as if I could stop! Finally someone took pity upon my drunken avi and explained how to stop...

Well then you may not want to go to Rasta Island...the folks there worship the marijuana leaf... (Kidding, it's JUST our logo)... I've had a few drinks on SL with ladies who like to laugh at me falling on my arse, just for laughs...they are some of the same ladies who walk around with a penis shaped cocktail glass and drink from it until they fall on their tushies. They wear Groucho Marx nose with glasses, Rudolf noses, ride cows and all the silly, shameless things that make them laugh. And most of them are in their 30's and 40's in RL. I think we can all say that laughter is actually healthy for the body, and we will find a way to make us laugh, however silly and immature it may seem. CHEERS!!!! & PARTY ON DUDES!!!

There are very addictive drugs in SL, they're called prims, once you've had a few you just keep wanting more.

to be funny, to RP, as a prank on newbies, because they think it'd make them seem cool like they aren't in RL... all sound like good reasons

I've done mushrooms and I have a bottle of vodka that makes you stumble around and fall down. Neither one makes any sense. I guess the vodka one was good for a laugh for a couple seconds, but that was about it. I've also seen a "drug dealer" kit. It's sort of a board that you wear that has a whole display of things people can buy - joints, mushrooms, heroin, etc. I think you're supposed to wear it around and try to sell the drugs to people. I can't think of a much stupider way to try to make dough in SL.

That said, I have been known to hang out in SL with people while imbibing in a few adult beverages in RL.

All these "drugs" can do, assuming they are prims with scripts, is play animations, audio, etc. I suppose they could change the visual experience if they attached as a HUD.

Exactly. They were very funny for a short time but I've been to two parties where they spent the entire time acting like they were drinking and doing drugs. It was tiring very fast and they were just too much into it for me.

I guess having had my fill of it all in my crazy period in RL I can't imagine the pleasure of it in SL.

yes there are SL drugs that's one of my ongoing projects to make my own line cause drug "makers" are not abundant and there are only a couple of decent ones around.

They affect your avie but using emotes etc so just like an animation attachment it will attach to you and make your avatar do things, see things, hear things etc as much as the SL environment will let you do this. They are pretty fun actually

I imagine the next question (not to get off the subject, because it can be considered a drug in some cultures) would be "There is SEX in SL? this is a joke, right?"
