I think a lot can be done with the 512. I made (and sell) a complete package of house and furniture (including a basic MLP bed) that takes only 50 prims. I have set up a sample plot (in the sky) at KFT Ingvar, Ingvar (40, 136, 403).
I am not trying to sell my stuff here. Just pointing out what is possible with efficient prim usage. The package is at almost give away price anyway. I built it for first (time) land owners. _____________________

When I first got my 512 lot (back in the good old days of "First Land"
I quickly found out how fast you can run out of prims. But, that really spurred me into being a little creative on building a house. I've built a couple houses that are less than 10 prims and quite roomy......but texturing is a little different. For instance, when you hollow a cube and cut a door it all looks great in my mind. Then I put on an outside texture with a couple windows, set the repeats and offsets to make it look good.........then go inside to find my texture on the those walls are all messed up. The repeats and offsets effect the inside at something different than on the outside. So, my inside textures are usually just sort of plain.........to avoid the distorted look But one trick I use is to make the inside walls 100% transpartent.............like being outside. ![]() Anyway, I only use my place for changing clothes or making stuff..........so fancy is not a priority for me. Neither is furniture. If I had a 70 prim house including furniture I would run out of prims making some of my skirts..............and god forbid that happens. LOL. |

Anyone else out here got a 512m parcel? Yes. My first. When I signed up, First Land was still a LL policy. I looked, and looked, and looked for First Land. FINALLY, they blogged that First Land was no more. I found a parcel I liked and paid way too much. I knew I was paying more than I needed to, but I liked the location and was frustrated with the First Land hunt. If you do, what do you do with it? I built my first building. A lighthouse. It still stands as I write this. I'm pretty sure I'm going to to remove everything on the parcel and put it up for sale here real soon. Have you ever run into a time when you wished you had more prims? I bought 2048m2 more in the same sim just to have more prims. Being the Noob that I was, if was hard to keep under 117 prims and do much with the parcel. I concentrated on completing the lighthouse with as few prims as I could. It currently stands at 87 prims without furnishings. That was before the mega prims I have now. I could do much better. Now that I think about it, I think I might. Or, is it just enough for you to leave your mark and give you a place to hang out? (^_^)y Not really, but I never really tried to make it so. I'm not a city boy in RL or SL. I need space! |

If not, that's what's causing it. |

Well as a noob I did start with my first 512 m2, but it lasted very short. Not so much the prim count, as the amount of space I had made me decide to go bigger, so I purchased an 4096 lot. Eventually the VAT issue made me decide I'd rather rent on estate land (something I still do not regret), and at the moment I have about 4100 m2 double prim land, giving me around 2000 prims to play with. And even with the skypod complex I put up for fun (they were ment to rent out but I never took the effort to advertise them anywhere
), usually I have around 600-700 prims left. Which is a blessing for me, as I can rebuild about my entire store up in the sky, to replace it in one smooth move when I am done Something I am right in the middle of at the moment.Back to the OP. Much can be done with 117 prims. Of course I specialized in low prim stuff, so I now know how much stuff you can decorate your house with for around 50 prims. The house itself does not have to be more then 20-30 prims, which still leaves more then enough room for some building fun. However I start to panic as soon as I have less then 200 prims left, I do admire the people making a beautiful parcel with only 117! _____________________

I have seen people with 512m lot who do amazing things with it.
I had 512 quickly went up to 1536m and that time I could do whole lot of things. The lots seemed bigger to me then now. I went up to close to 1/4 sim shortly after though. Yet when I look at 512m lot when I was subdividing today it looked whole lot smaller then I remember. The use to look much bigger those 512m lots. Has anyone else noticed that. There is lot you can do with very little lot with prims and textures under 117 prims but space is always issue and its easy at even 1/4 sim to feel very claustrophobic with prims with using not even 117 prims. _____________________

no one has mentioned rezzers? i have a 3 storey store and stock rezzed on a 128 plot lol.
I use rezzers too on my main parcels as it is the only way to cope with the low prim limits. The maximum you can temp rezz is 500 prims for larger plots, the maths is more complicated for smaller but trial and error works ..once items start to flicker you are on the limit. Good brands dont seem to cause too much lag and on a quite sim work well. I also make a lot of low prim furniture despite criticism of 'omg 2 prims!!!'...but after filling my first 512 with a small house a fireplace and a chair well designed low prim works and now theres sculpties which are even more help.. Beware though never rez an item which creates something on touchdown...140 hot tub water discs take ages to remove .... |

I thought the max for temp rezzer for entire sim was 500.
I personally never liked the look of what temp rezzer does, it more fun to find the lowest prim but high quality way of making something it sort of a fun challenge, still got lot more work to improve this though. It is very hard to get the texture mapping right of inside boxes. I discovered their is lot you can do with just one to 50 prims with lot of practice and experimenting. _____________________
