Another end-of-the-world sim..

/me bets that if you circled the outside sims on the grid, you'd find a bunch of these spots.

Right now I'm looking at an R_____ C_____ and the same D______ D_____ previously mentioned, occupying the same space. Both phantom and both born on the Fourth of July.

That was in Fiendish ... moving over to Techlines and I find a phantom N______ U______ born on 7/7.

Then I found a cool store and got distracted, sorry. But wow, that's odd.

Question- How do these bots stay logged in? I walk away from my computer for more than twenty minutes I am logged out.

We had a similar thing going on on a plot next to ours. Governor Linden owned and numerous relatively new arrivals dropping in from nowhere... standing around doing nothing for hours on end. Very weird.......

My inner conspiracy theorist is wondering...

What if these are LL controlled bots who's single mission is to artifically boost up the concurant user number, the same was open registration was implimented to artifically boost up the 'resident' number? LL places them high up in empty sims where they go mostly unnoticed and keep the website's front page "Online Now" number something sellable to the corporations. A hundred stacked bots in a hundred different remote sims and suddenly you have 10,000 more concurant users to sell as advertising bait to (__insert corporations name here__).

Just a thought...

Nah ... they still show as green dots, so anyone looking at the map would see, and anyone who went looking would find them ... as we see has happened. Plus, I only found two stacked, not 100, and the other one I found was alone.

It's no more out of the ordinary than anything else you will see in SL. The thing i am wondering is, if it's in the middle of nowhere, over ocean, and 200 meters in the air, Why do you Care What they are doing up there?
It's the sort of thing i might look sidelong at for a moment or two before passing on to something Interesting.

Yep im underwater at Tokebi, its really weird like some sort of halfway strange place that avatars stay at for a while then disappear these are not phantom though i tried to push one down the dark hole here. If they were forum readers investigating im really really sorry lol

I don't get the bit about them being phantom, though, but I noticed llGetBoundingBox returned some interesting bounding boxes for them, like <-0.213454, -0.284605, -204.937012>, <0.213454, 0.284605, -203.085754>. It suggests they would have an actual physical presence about 204 meters below where their avatars are, but I dragged a megaprim there and dropped it from 768 meters, and it fell unimpeded to the ground.

they are still there, all females, all born in July. And one of them has an attachemt in the right upper leg (and they all need a rebake )

There is probably a camp area close by and the owner has banned them..so when they auto log in they get put there in the sky..had the same thing happen in Pruni, they all rezzed in on a linden road, the only area they weren't banned in...

That's my bet too. Probably telelporting in and out so much half of them are residual ghosts or some such.

Some months ago I started to notice a pattern of lone avatars on the sea bottom in the dead centre of Linden protected water sims. They just stand there. Many I noticed had the Group role "Ruth"
Mostly they were basic female avatars, sometimes bald.

One exceptional one took the form of a big blob of jelly with pieces of fruit inside it. That one used to be on the sea-floor in the centre of Jergens. I just went to look for it now, and it's moved up to an altitude of 500. It's at Jergens 128,128,500
Go look! It's quite pretty, with the fruit items inside in constant motion.

The one in Gorcey sim (2nd sim t0 the North) has now moved a few metres underground.
Look at Map, you'll see lone avatar dots in the middle of many water sims.

The one in Mirtoon is wearing glasses.


My theory at the time was that these lone avatars were bots used in logging use of the Linden sims.
I should that LL themselves would be able to use the server logs for that, so maybe a third party is at work.


I've now noticed a few dots in Corsica water. The locations might point to a logging of traffic passing between Linden sims.

I'm beside the Mirtoon bot as I type this. And suddenly thousands of large dolar bills are being ressed all over the sim !!!!

Some avvie is flying around, so I don't think it's the bot doing it.

I'd have to ask how could you not care? I don't think it's a conspiracy or anything, but it's damned funny to watch and a little creepy too. My natural curiosity is going to make this bug me for a bit.
