From: Weston Graves Tonight I shopped around for sport coats, turtlenecks, hushpuppies, basically the Carl Sagan professorial look I still favor in real life. I stumbled upon a nice sportcoat - sweater outfit that looked like just the thing for when fall comes to the northern hemisphere. i cannot hardly wait to see you all made up, with your blonde hair even.

I bought a "Luskwood Bunkies" polar bear avatar for the same account twice, but I didn't bother going back and asking for a refund 'cos Samara had given me free avatars before.

From: Jig Chippewa I seriously dont remember anything like that. My sl partner larfs when I keep telling him the same joke over and over since I've forgotten I told him. I think its a hilarious one about the FooKaWee tribe.

My biggest weakness for memory is hair. So, I have folders with the creator's name on them, then sub-folders of hairs. This way.. no accidental buying it again.
Same pretty much goes for everything else I buy. Plus, I have a really good visual memory. I might forget a name, but I never forget a face!

For the stores that I purchase lots at, I keep notecards with the names of all items I have ever bought there. This is extra important since I almost always trash or give away every outfit after I wear it. I have, a few times, bought an outfit that I already own - sometimes because I forgot to search for it first, but usually because I did the inventory search on the 'recent' tab rather than the normal one and did not realize it until I went to store the item in it's proper folder. Luckily, I do not think I have ever done this on anything costing more than a couple hundred L$.

How do I remember? I don't. Have bought the same thing over a couple of times. I know people who have the same issue in RL lol.

I've bought the same book a few times, but since I've re-read several books to the point that they fell apart that's not a big deal... it's usually a book I'll need another copy of eventually anyway.

From: 3Ring Binder i cannot hardly wait to see you all made up, with your blonde hair even. As soon as I find something new I don't already have! From: Lindal Kidd Weston...YOU bought HUSHPUPPIES?! They're not made from real puppies. Are they? Well - see I forgot about this thread. Glad a few others know the difficulties. (Wondering what else might be in Jig's garden.) Maybe the best solution for me is to run a quick search before buying each time, because my inventory is pretty organized too.

No, Hushpuppies are made from corn and cornmeal.

From: Jig Chippewa Truthfully, I am quite "foggy" in real at best of times. I have a very limited short term memory so I am often surprised when I relog on to sl and find I have bought something I didn't need. I try and organize my real schedule as best I can with all types of menomic devices and mindjerkers. I lost a dinner plate in my garden a few years ago and found it last month. I often forget I have invitations. In sl I use folders if I have the time. Then I lose that folder. I have this issue myself... I've found that having a set routine does help quite a bit... I always schedule my appts for the same day of the week, and keep a writing pad as a constant companion... and then use it immediately when it occurs to me I need to do something later. I quit trying to remember what it is I need to remember, only where to find and and that I need to check it.

I don't.
Despite the size of my inventory I have never had the problem of buying things twice. My memory seems to work on the visual so if I see a picture of the outfit then I remember that I already have it. Otherwise I don't have a clue what I've bought. Of course, when not shopping I do have a habit of forgetting what I have and, because my inventory has gone past the point of no return when it comes to organisation, often the only reason I have a new outfit to wear most days is either because its new or because the name of something suddenly popped into my head and I remembered.
Somedays I just go digging in my inventory and am either surprised or scared by what I find.
ETA: I have a whole furry avvie in my inventory somewhere that I can't find. Ive been searching for it off and on for the past couple of months. I simply cannot remember the name of it lol.

I'm your typical anally retentive Virgo.
I have what it is folders (ie hair, shoes, clothes), and in them where its from subfolders (store names), and some are even sub-sub-foldered into catagories such as dresses, skirts, pants, etc in those.
My embarrassing double up story. I was buying poses one night and bought a fatpack, then 5 mins later forgot and bought some individual ones from that same pack.

After my first 6 months in SL and an uncontrollable inventory, I spent hours purging my inventory of useless freebies and other assorted crap. Once I got it down to a manageable level, I created several, basic folders and subfolders. Now, when I go shopping, I file things quickly and only buy quality items that I can't live without.
