Smiles

Hi,

I noticed that when I take a picture my AV smiles! It's the only time I knew she had TEETH.

I haven't found any other way to make that gesture work...is there one?

there is one called toothy smile

It is a built in animation called toothy_smile as I remember.. Contact me tonight in world around 6 SL time and I will send you a gesture that uses it.

The free version (and full version) of the Mysti tool have an emote menu built in, and it has a Big Smile button that will activate a toothy smile.

The ZHAO II Ao hud has a free and seperate smile hud bundeled with it. Smile, wink, stick out tongue and a setting to simle at random times.

The thing is... On most faces... It's that "I'm taking you with me" smile. (=_=)

I've literally freaked out my RL family with my little vamp avatar, cammed on to her face, and triggering that smile emote. =^-^=

Yes you are right...when it lasts more than a second....it's WEIRD!

Has anyone made a pretty smile? The Mysti tool has a grin (also a bit odd).

I have a device called Second Expressions that I think may combine the built in expressions into a hud. The big smile really is like something out of a horror movie, but if you combine it with laugh or open mouth it looks more natural. These gestures only make sense to me when dancing as you might make silly expressions then. Otherwise they're just creepy.

I'm waiting for real time mocap to animate our avs. That's probably just a dream though, and who'd want to sit at their computers with a bunch of sensors stuck to their faces for long periods? Well, maybe me.

[Edit: It just occurred to me that would be the next thing to spell doom for SL. "Oh no - what if we don't WANT to mocap? We'll be ostracized and our privacy will be violated! They can tell I'm not really LOL."]

If the sensors were nanosized and included in a nice medium like a face lotion or cleansing mask, I'd wear them.

I asked for a pretty smiile some months ago. Apparently it's not. The facial expressions is set by LL, so we are stuck with them. I don't like either the "smile" or "toothe smile".

It is a facial combiner that can be forund for free on Xstreetsl. http://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=832034 This gadget makes it possible to play 2 expressions together, to get a bit different expression of it. I've played a bit with that, also with "Enable lip sync" and "Slow motion animations". Both can be found in the Advanced menu.

I don't have time to take pictures, or postprosess and submit them to Flickr now. My RL is so busy. But take a look on this avatar, the owner of Juicy. IMHO, this is a pretty smile.

A Very Noob question: How do I use these animations? How do I make my avatar smile?

If it is an animation override (which will look like a gold box in inventory) you wear it.

If it is a 'gesture' you double click on it in inventory to open it and then choose either 'preview' or 'play'.

I've seen a 'smiler' AO, but it actually came w/an outfit i didn't buy so I dont know what it was called. And then some AO sets come with expressions like smiling.

All of the SL facial expressions are a bit "it puts the lotion on its skin" though. Someone needs to make subtler ones.

QFT! I've seen several people lately with something (perhaps the HUD) that causes them to smile randomly. In addition to being a creepy smile, because it's random, sometimes the smiles happen when the discussion is serious or really not appropriate for a smile.

You can simply make a gesture, if you have it activated by or whatever you use most, you will smile whenever you emote in chat!

A couple of my poses also include smiles, although there are now non-smiling alternates that can be used too for those who don't wish to smile which came up recently too, one person simply doesn't like to smile, the other was having her wedding and had never noticed herself smiling before!

Yeah, I agree with that. I just mod my shape a bit to have a slight whimsical smile all of the time. As for inapropriate times for this expression, I have no answer to that dilema.
