What's up with these restarts?

So some 750 restarts were put upon the grid tonight.

Me and a friend noticed that many of these seemed aimed at the Bay City and Nova Albion area, with several of these regions going into restart.

Then it gets weird.

Docklands seems to be at a different time of day now from the rest of the word. When it is daytime, it is night there, and vice versa.

Sistiana, too, seems to be having issues, with it going into a continual restart cycle.

Anyone else seeing issues?

(Note to Salazar: I did a GINI scan on both, but the results seem unclear. Both would appear fine, but are definitely showing some odd behavior)

It seems to not just be Sistiana...I went back to Miramare twice...and froze each time. Logged back in and went to Grignano and Barcola respectively...same effect. So it looks like I will sleep this one off.

Yes, I notice a similar issue in Bay City - Argos, with a second restart as well as logging off after a bad crossing into the sim. At any rate, a spate of bad weather in the tri-cities, if not elsewhere.

Montara had that time-of-day problem forever - may still do for all I know. I had people looking at it but no one ever fixed it, at least as far as I know. Annoying.

I was just in Europa and it went into a restart, so it's widespread, and I hope is for something good :-D

's odd, 'cuz they said it was only for 750 places, which isn't much out of 29,000 regions. It seemed like a lot of them were older regions - Clara, Lusk, Ahern, Sistiana, etc. as well as Bay City sims. I would assume it was one of those "we gotta do this ASAP" restarts an not the usual planned stuff.

Maybe something to do with that time issue they were having? I dunno.

I dunno. It takes a restart every couple days to keep a busy sim running smooth. Maybe some there is being proactive.... Hahahaha nvm....

We could always go back to the way things used to be. We could just take the entire grid down for a half a day? I think rolling restarts are much better!

And I could wear my "I hate Update Wednesdays" tee again :)

they could do it on Tuesdays then all 3 of the virtual worlds I am involved in could be down at one time....oh joy! ;)

Actually if it would actually FIX the grid I'd accept downtime at this point.

Oh, I agree. Plus it seems like *most* of the time things go a lot smoother after a rolling restart. It ain't like late '06 when Update Wednesday would stretch into an all day (and part of Thursday) thing!

Still, 'least what I saw last night, this one was a weird one, and seemed to be awful rough on my 'hood.

This Sounds Familiar...

and, potentially, an even bigger problem than this...

Grignano has a well documented grid weakness and I'm worried that it is spreading to other parts of Nova Albion and Bay City...

Thanks for alerting us to this, Mari. I'll take a look too.

More unscheduled restarts on the way: http://status.secondlifegrid.net/2009/11/11/post795/

One thing I noticed last evening was I found myself running into multiple PerformanceTester avs in my grid travels. I wonder what is up.

I wonder if Babbage made a breakthrough on svc-3895 and they're testing that out. That'd certainly be more welcome than the grid breaches that follow Mr Jack around! (not that I'm trying to discourage him from posting!!!)

edit: has anybody noticed if the sim versions are being bumped? 1.30.2.135876 is the latest one I see on the wiki, from October 12...
