Right, and here is the recipe:-


4 pilchards ,herring or mackerel.
juice and rind of 1 lemon.
6 oz. of flaky pastry.
1 tablespoon of chopped parsley.
1 chopped Spanish onion.
4 tablespoons of fine breadcrumbs.
1 rasher of bacon.
2 thinly sliced boiled eggs.
freshly ground sea salt and pepper.

I must admit ,it is an acquired taste!!!

That looks really good! Debating on the use of pilchards or mackerel...

The pilchard might be a bit too spiced, I think. Unless you get them fresh.

Hmmm, how about smoked herring? Or, Smelts! Oooh, with cucumbers and dill!

/takes out the boiled eggs but other than that, it's sounds quite appealing to me :)
