it all depends on what you want to be really..i mean like warrior or priests or mage..you can also make up to like 8 chars on there if you want to test them all and delete amd make new ones or go to other servers and make another 8 different ones..
it's hard to say what the best would be since stats change all the time..you have to really test them out yourself and see..

I wish I could help. I play Guild Wars. If you ever try it out (no monthly fees) PM me and I will help you with that. :)

Lots of people play ogres for WOW from what I have seen though.
Have fun.

The best character in WoW is ME!

Oh, you mean as far as choosing what you're gonna play?

I'd suggest choosing either the Lightninghoof or Arathor servers.

There are quite a few SLers that are in a couple of guilds on those servers. Both are Horde guilds; Feted Inner Horde on Lightninghoof and Second Coming on Arathor.

If you choose Lightninghoof, holler at me -- I'm Wakinyan, level 70 Orc Shaman.

No, Ogres aren't a playable race in WoW. You probably are thinking of Orcs.

My partner used to play a troll shaman. The only other thing I know is that the alliance sucks, but then that is probably a biased opinion of hers.

Druids are cool classes; skinning and leatherworking are good profession choices. And I love killing Night Elves.

In my inventory. :D Perhaps that will persuade me not to hunt your Night Elf down and kill him. Repeatedly.

try Night Elf Hunter, since you are going into the leather trade. as one poster put it if you don't like him you can make another.

but be careful the cost of leather is known to go up and down in WoW.

so don't put all your eggs in one leather bag

I'd claim the Starax prize for most witty post, but aren't they non-transferrable?

when i used to play it was warlocks that could really go up against the big mobs on their own and in pvp a warlock and priest we deadly..i would look at all the dots they had on me and how many stacks on each cast and knew it was over..

but the warlocks could take on the level 61 demons back when there were only 60 levels where two warriors still needed a priest to take one on..

Ohhhhh, I loves killing Night Elves,
Night Elves what I loves to kill.
Cut off their noses and toeses,
Ride back to Tarren Mill.

Ain't nothin' like slaying Night Elves,
'Specially if they's a rogue,
'Cause Night Elf funerals are so much fun,
And killin' Night Elves is in vogue.
Hey!

:D

Might as well buy it with the Burning Crusade expansion which you will use around level 58.

Leveling in WOW for the first time can be lots of fun, but it is harder to find groups doing the old content raids as you are leveling, since most players are most committed to their level 70 avatars and when they re-roll another class they tend to rush through content to reach 70 ASAP,

In pre-expansion WOW the game became a different game at level 60. Now the level cap is level 70 and fairly soon level 80, when the new expansion is released.

It will take a three or four months to get to level 60, playing at a normal learning pace.

You have a choice of PVE, PVP or RPPVE or RP PVP servers. PVP happens on all types of servers, but one is safe during normal leveling on a pvp server untill you flag yourself PVP.

If you think you might like lots of chaotic PVP, then start on a high pop, PVP server, because you cannot transfer from a PVE server to the PVP one later. On the other hand starting on a PVP server, means you are always facing being attacked, so leveling is alwasy under the gun.

You have to choose between Horde or Alliance for each avatar you make. The classes in horde or alliance are mostly the same but with different racial skills.

All classes are complex and have their own learning curves. What may be the most fun for you to begin with, will depend on you.

In raiding, Classes with the most responsibility in terms of groups are the Warriors (the main tanking class)and Priests (the main healing class). So they are the most in demand in Raiding, although Paladins and Druids can substitute as both tank or and healers depending on how they are specced and geared. Shaman can also be good healers in a group.

Each class has a wide spectrum depending how they are specced. For instance a Warrior can spec for mostly pvp and not be as good a tank but be a good killer, or a priest can spec shadow and be a better killer in pvp, but not as good a healer in raids.

I think the most inherently complicated class ending up with the most buttons on a task bar, are the Warlocks, but saying that can provoke arguments, since all classes can be seen as complicated. No class is widely accepted as "easy mode," except a hunter.....but then that can be argued as well. Hunters are distinguished by the name "Huntard," due to their reputation for attracting the most newbies and the tendancy to cause raid wipes due to improper pet care. They are generally seen as overpowered in PVP battlegrounds, not because they can defend themselves well in melee, which they can't, but because they have a good range and usually get the most kills in a battleground, so they can advance faster. But then in the Arena, they don't generally do that well.

The easiest to level and solo play, are probably the Hunters and Rogues. For pure melee killing, The Rogues and Warriors are most dominant, but each class has their anti class that kills them easiest in pvp. This is referred to as "rock, paper, scissors." The variables are essentially infinite. For me the most fun classes have been the Warlock and Rogue, but I have spent lots of time as a Warrior and Priest and also have been a Druid and a Mage. A skilled player can make any of the classes rule.

In raiding, Warrior, Priest, Mage are the most sought after basics, but raids need other classes too, for the many utility skills---even Huntards are needed sometimes.

Read the descriptions of the classes and decide what sounds like the most fun and whether to chose Alliance or Horde is a matter of taste --do you want more of a human look or a funky look? Horde are more like the furries, although Blood Elfs (Horde) look more Human. In general it has alwasy been a little easier to get groups as an Alliance, since there are more of them, but even that is not so much the case anymore, since so many millions of people have played WOW for 3-4 years and have rerolled and switched sides.

Racially, usually undead or gnomes are often considered to have the most practical racials, but then that is all debatable and depends on class too.

Whatever you choose, you will need to study that class well, to play well.

Avoid a low population server. I would recommend High Population for the most fun and the best chance to find groups for the olde content as you level.

I have never played this phenomenon, but my ex-husband plays it and he has told me in the past that the warlock class was the strongest -- he said it was the most versatile for anything he wanted to do in the game.

A long time ago there was a WoW player who decided to see how long it would take him to reach level 60 naked, with no weapons or equipment of any sort - just using his bare fists. Many others joined this quest too, with trolls being the favoured race. I got to level 23 and gave up.

Highlights of his epic journey can be viewed here;
