GeForce 5200 I get about half the frame rate I do on the normal client with WindLight turned off (no shaders). Turning on water shaders and full reflection oddly doesn't further degrade performance at all, it's exactly the same. Turning on atmospheric shaders is like watching a slideshow, but it does work. (Yes, it's an old card, but I don't feel like spending 150€ on something I only need for SL )

I'll be getting a new system before I get another graphics card, but I ain't doing that just for Second Life.

Runs same as before for me.
Had some slow down waiting for stuff to Rez, but I think that was due to the client "clearing cache" before starting up.

The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

OK, wiping all trace of NVidia drivers from my system with drivercleaner, then installing the Forceware drivers put together by FlipperPA fixed things for me. Framerates back to normal more or less. Windlight looking good, apart from at midday but that's because the default settings are way too bright. Flipper's drivers are here: http://www.sltrivia.com/nVidia169.09.zipMore info in this Windlight thread: http://www.sluniverse.com/php/vb/showthread.php?t=2849&page=9

From: Gillian Waldman If anyone can figure out a driver that will work with: GeForce GO 7900GS + XP (am currently running latest drivers 84.69), please post I've read in other forums of the same issue but as yet, no one has forced a driver that will work. I'm running it on a Dell XPS m1710 laptop with an nVidia GeForceGo 7900GS graphics chip, under XP. It gave me the "can either see water or sky effects but not both" problem initially, but having just updated my drivers it's running like a dream. However, the drivers I use on mine are the Dell editions - in this case, version 6.14.10.9422. They may not be identical to yours.

Nimbus - I run on a Dell Inspiron E1705 (XP). Do you happen to have a link to those drivers? They wouldn't be official but maybe worth a try?

From: Gillian Waldman Nimbus - I run on a Dell Inspiron E1705 (XP). Do you happen to have a link to those drivers? They wouldn't be official but maybe worth a try? I found 'em on the Dell website. The driver download page is here: http://supportapj.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=au&cs=audhs1&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=XPS_M1710&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=That should get you to the drivers for the XPS m1710. (If not, do a bit of hunting around in the support > drivers & downloads section. It's there somewhere!) You'll need to go wading through drop-down menus to find the one I downloaded. FWIW, the options to choose for getting that one are: OS: WinXP Language: English Category: Video Then you'll get a list of downloads showing up on the page below the drop-downs. Two thirds of the way down there are a couple of rows labelled "Nvidia - driver". I *think* I downloaded the first of them (GeForce GO 7950 GTX) but since there's only three there, it can't hurt to try the others if that doesn't work for you. Good luck!
