When is it Friday?

Or to put it another way, whose measure of time is used to determine whether or not a Friday thread can officially be started?

Right now it's halfway through Friday in Australia, but still Thursday in the UK, though only just, and it's as early as Thursday afternoon at Linden Lab (also SLT). So which time determines when a Friday thread is acceptable?

I suggest that the international date line is the arbiter so, as long as it's Friday somewhere, a Friday thread can be started.

Around here anymore, it seems that Friday threads get started any day of the week.

Yes but they shouldn't be accepted. We need an offical time when a Friday thread may be started.

Just as everything in-world is based on SLT, I vote that Friday threads follow the same "standard".

But then it's almost Saturday in major parts of the world.

For Friday threads, we probably should have an 'extended Friday' such that it starts when the first Friday happens in the World and goes thru until the last place is on Saturday.

What a good idea - and extended Friday. Now if we can somehow engineer extended Saturdays and Sundays, so that the weekends are longer, and market it well, we could be rich :D Or even employ people to work on Saturdays and Sunday. They'd be working twice as long for a day's pay.

A Friday Thread can be started at any time, but it only *becomes* a Friday Thread on a Friday. Normal threads can meander along until Friday hits when they mutate into threads which attract the nutters and the parasites - and an audience.

Pep (As an existentialist, Friday starts whenever it does for me.)

PS The last few Fridays have seen Friday Threads conspicuous by their absence; please try harder, or perhaps, *not* as hard.

Mondays are wonderful. It's the best day for knowing that all those people are getting up and going to work while I lounge around at home all day. It's best in the winter - hearing those car doors outside in the mornings, where it's cold and miserable, while I'm tucked up nice and warm in bed is truly a delight :D

I was going to post the lyrics to a Boomtown Rats song . . .

Pep ( . . . but I'll keep it for a really bad Monday instead.)

 I think I just might hate you. You obviously don't have rabbits. I have the bloody swine flu and does it get me out of being up and mucking? No.

/me stomps off muttering and wailing....

:(

But look on the bright side. *I* am here lounging around at home, while most people are working their fingers to the bone at work. As long as someone is happy and content, there's a bright side :)

You sir, I scowl at in jealous disgust. And then stick my tongue out for good measure.

And now the downside - I have to get off my ass and leave the comfort and carefreeness of my home for a while :(

To put another way - I'm off out for a roast beef lunch - back in an hour :D

Is it Sunday where you are then Phil?

Oh that is a downside. I had roast beef sandwiches with extra mustard and lettuce on a crunchy baguette the last 2 days. Piggy flu has ceased troubling my appetite. You only get roasts on Fridays?

I think I will have Pastrami with orange energy drink today. I am burning out on the kiwi-melon. Variety is the province of we who must be off our asses on a regular basis ;)

It isn't Sunday where I live, Pep, but Sunday dinner is on Friday's at the cafe just down the road, so I eat there on Fridays. And yes, we only get roasts on Fridays there, Laurin. It can be a hard life at times :(

That is all together shocking. And I though Ireland was provincial. :( Well, I will think of you while smacking my lips and mmmmmnnnnnning over my Pastrami sandwich.

Curses! It's now knocking off time here (after 5 p.m.) and everyone is going home to relax for the weekend. No longer can I sit around here, smirking. But Monday morning will come soon enough, and then I'll be all smirks again :)

Btw, I don't like pastrami, Laurin. I'm a died-in-the-wool roast beef and Yorkshire pudding man :)
