...Hello, Angry Italian Grocer. The newest viewer (it's either RC 1.21.5 or the main download 1.20.17, I'm not sure which one I was using last night) has replaced the "typing hands" chat gesture with animations from the "Voice Gestures" folder. If you thought the typing hands were silly, wait until you see these. Every time you chat, you look like an Italian grocer arguing with his produce supplier over the price of garlic. Yeck. If I want my avatar to look human, and civil, I may just have to switch from typed chat to Voice with the gestures turned off and Lip Sync turned on. Or just do what I've been doing, and disabling the typing animation entirely.

It isn't enough to make us all use Official Viewers, but they want to make evryone use Voice, or else you will look like a blithering idiot. Very Pragmatic indeed.

Hmmm... I just double checked my 1.21 viewer and it is the same old typing animation. But I have voice disabled. Maybe that's the difference.

I don't have that version, but I did try it in 1.21.5 with and without voice on. First, nothing at all happined either way, then I remembered I turned off the "Play typing animation when chatting" option. Turned it back on and tried again and got the default animation both times.

Honestly though, as offbeat as gesturing might be, the typing thing is rather surreal. We are just used to it.
Then again, I haven't seen the gesturing...

I prefer the typing anim. It lets me know that someone is actually typing something to me, and it lets them know that I am not ignoring them even though I appear to be. My AO only allows it in certain stands, and I wish it would allow it in all the stands because of that.

Will the new chat anim still register as "AGENT_TYPING"? If not, this will break most typing animation overrides.

I checked the new main viewer DL for both Mac and Windows, and both had the same old typing hands animatiion when in text chat. I never have Voice activated, so I can't say what might happen if you do.

OK, thanks everyone. Now I'm beginning to doubt my own sanity.  I'll do some experimenting in world tonight with both my main and my alt (they use different AOs, which might be a possible problem source.) I'll post the results here. (Desmond, you are on one of your mischievous kicks today, I see. Can we expect a Flashmob Party on the Caledon group chat tonight?)

to be honest now if LL wanted to be done with the typing anim default would be off and the option under the advanced tab would be to turn it on
