Well, no offense, but "a lot of people do it" and "from my experience" doesn't really give a concrete reason why this would be so. I have over 23,000 Inventory items, and have no trouble with Rezzing, Teleporting, or Logging in. So from *my* experience, it has no bearing.

You didn't ask for a concrete reason, you asked for more information ("Can you provide more information?" . I won't have said anything if you wanted a concrete reason, only a concrete reason and nothing but a concrete reason. I have no idea of the concrete reason. All I had was more information. That more information was personal experience. I provided that personal experience.

That more information was personal experience. I provided that personal experience. Sorry to ruffle your feathers. but I did ask "How does the inventory size affect teleporting?" From my understanding of how SL works, which I readily admit isn't comprehensive, I don't see how it would be a factor. Your avatar's data is copied from one server to another once a connection is negotiated, but your inventory resides on a completely different set of servers (affectionately know as the asset servers), and in fact your client is the only thing referencing those. When you rez or attach something, you basically instruct the sim server to fetch that data from the asset server, or perhaps its the other way, the asset server send the data to the sim server, (not sure). And of course the data is sent to your client and everyone elses, I would presume by the sim server. Perhaps performance is degraded on the client side if inventory is larger than what the local machine can handle, but thats just conjecture on my part. Perhaps the amount of inventory that is 'too much' can vary from person to person based on how souped up your computer is. That may explain the varying user experience. My computer is quite soupy, so that may be why I can handle 20k without a whimper. Rambling off.

Hmm not sure why it is so either but I do notice a difference when running my main in NoR compared to my combat alt, so much I given up using my main in combat.

I'm afraid to use storage boxes again. I tend to have stuff disappear from the storage boxes or come back to my inventory as broken items. Glad I only did it with a bunch of freebie stuff though.

what i am doing is.. say in this instance, waaaaay too many LM's.
i am making a room in the land, ( i <3 loni) and making boxes that sit out in th eland, and do NOT go back to inventory. i catogorize all the boxes in sections, and put the appropiate LM's in them, so when you click them, you get a folder titled with the LM's in it. i hate having tons of LM's in my inven, i tend to TP using the map LM's instead of inven LM.
also, with all th emillions of LM's Loni has, *giggles* anyone could come and collect a folder for specific types of shopping. hell with search. =D

The two main areas I have found that affects Teleports/Sim Crossings are Landmarks and Contacts - and they can be fixed by moving them into a subfolder off the main. The reason is that the client and the sim checks to see if any of them are in the sim you are crossing into, in order to highlight on the map.
Other than that, have found no difference.

lol I use 1 prim freeb cargo bins and barrels, for inventory downsizing, just open them, drag contents and rename, take back into inventory!
LMs are another problem for me, except for dups! I can't seem to del them or store them, iii might need them, when pft I prob only need 30 or so really really.

I made a script today to make this even easier ^_^ I have 3 boxes, each labbelled differently (One is clothes, one is buildings/creations, and the third is textures. I have it so it listens for me to ask for a texture, and the correct one tells me if its in it. I could also have it give to me if I wanted.. but I figured telling me was enough ^_^
