Here is another place for people to make [what they expect to be] their last post on these forums.

This will probably be my last post here. I have a few questions, sensible practical ones to do with SL, but I intend to save those for the new forum.

Anyway, this is probably my last post here, so hope to see everyone on the new replacement.

Byee all and see you soon in your new formats!

Well, the forum is really grinding for me so I'm going to make my last post here and call it a day. Thanks all of you for all the wise advice, laughs and entertainment. I hope to see some of you at the party on Friday. After that I'm thinking of taking a break from SL for a month or two, so take care, all of you.

love spin x

Last post for me in Second Life too. February 2007 - February 2010. The grid has got much more stable, at the expense of having a lower maximum of people in each sim and just generally fewer people online anyway.

Windlight, glow, gambling, voice, homesteads, XStreet, adult, bots, camping and now forums. Linden Labs has handled all these in about the worst possible way for their customers and despite the wonderful possibilities of Second Life I'm leaving because I'm fed up with being annoyed all the time by the people that own it.

Linden Labs appears to be taking Second Life in several directions, although it's hard to tell when they communicate so badly:
1. Encourage corporate/government business at the expense of individuals. These people pay far more than anyone else so making Linden Labs more profitable. Private customers are being ignored, stigmatised and/or marginalised. Corporate sims become private ghettos with little traffic in or out. RESULT - fewer, better-paying customers. Well good for you LL but I'm one of the private customers that isn't going to put up with this any more.
2. Encourage commercial solution providers. Corporate customers (who don't engage with 'ordinary' residents) need people to tell them how to do everything. Paying LL US$500/year is the way to get their business. Proper content creators will get business from the corporates via the solution providers - presumably with kickbacks. RESULT - fewer, better-paying content creators. Well good for you LL and the corporates which can't be bothered to engage with SL at all at least get someone that can set things up for them. Pretty awful for every content creator though, so I think I'll cut my losses.
3. Advertise the Friends Of Linden. High RL-fees for SL events like SL-PRO! featuring the 'in crowd', even if they have little to offer. RESULT - just bad for everyone except yout friends LL. Attendees pay too much to learn too little, in-world training organisations lose contact with the corporates who, presumably, are the only ones ignorant enough to pay for this.
4. Simplify, centralise and monopolise. There's no room for anything by lowest-common-denominator US values in Second Life, and only LL should be meeting them. Oh sure, deviants can hide in the Zindra-bin but don't even think of anything un-American like *gulp* swearing, nudity or international events. Violence, fraud and harrasment are fine though - they seem to fit LL's vision. SL is just not a place I want to be any more.

In summary - LL want corporate customers for their unsuitable platform. Failing that they'll take the Faceslap crowd for which SL is also unsuited. They are less and less interested in dealing with we residents they already have and who obviously don't make them enough money. OK, I hear you LL. I'm out of here.

I guess this is as good a place as any. It's been a pleasure and a privilege spending part of my day with you all for the past 3 years. You've made me laugh, cry, think, and sometimes get angry enough to want to reach through the screen an punch people in the face. I wouldn't have had it any other way. My wish for you all is for you to find whatever you are looking for, in whatever life you are searching for it.

I've just about finished loading the moving van

Before I drive off into the Windlight enabled sunset I am going to leave one more of my favorite old threads, titled "Inapropriate Historical References"

I want to thank you all and would be proud to go into battle with you magnificent bastards anytime, anywhere. *whips off her pants and waves them in salute, one last time.

Bye, everyone!

Nothing clever to say. I will miss this place immensely.

Here is a parting shot - my home in SL, just before I left it for the last time...

This seems a good place to say my goodbye. I want to thank each and everyone of you for all the help and entertainment I've gotten from these forums since I first found them 3 years ago. Many times I have laughed out loud for all the world (my home & office:)) to hear. There is nothing so good for the soul as a good laugh. I have read here just about every workday and I will miss it so much!

Stay safe, happy and try to follow your dreams.....

<333 Seven and I hope you are not leaving SL :o

To All.. I will miss reading this format. It's like a book you keep reading and then read again. The new SLA [eeps that is an unfortunate abbreviation Wiki it] make my eyes and brain hurt, but I will use it I guess. Now insert the Rhett Butler quote and follow it with a Bogart one [pick any they all work]

<333

P.S. Thanks to all who gave me advice and support during the time since Hubby's Surgery .. sigh we will not get that in the SLA I bet. Pity that.

@Phil - it's not a nightie, it's a bona fide dress, as well you know.

@Argus (and others who asked) - thanks, but I'm *not* leaving SL. It's these forums! They're closing tonight or tomorrow. Some post has to be my last post, so now *this* will be my last post.

Though I don't post here as often as I used to, I still drop by to catch up most every day. This forum has been very important to my SL. I've learned a lot from so many of you. Thanks for all the help and all the laughs over the last few years.

I hope to see you inworld or other forums. If I don't, best of luck and have fun!

Bye for now, and goodbye RA.

I sure hate to see these forums go. They have been part of my daily SL routine for over 3 years and I will miss them tremendously! I always went here first and then later in-world, every day. Once I had my fill of the morning forums and a cup of tea, I was ready to start a new day in world. I fear the new blorums will never be the same especially with the blinded iron fist moderation I see there now. I don't think I shall be there at all...

I will miss all the laughs and fun times, and there have been many, all the serious and not so serious discussions on just about anything to imagine.

But I will miss the people here most of all :(

Kisses,

Dytska

It is going to be very strange not having the forums to log into, and check out the new posts and such. Very... strange indeed.

I am sure that there are many out there that are thinking the same thing, and may you find a new home, in wherever you decide to hang your hat.

It has been a long bumpy ride... sad it has to come to an end.

This picture is the one I did when you all were doing the bikini shots for the july 4th holiday and in the bikini I made, which I had no idea anyone was doing until I was notified. you guys almost made me cry that day, as I was in a bad way, and it was very touching what you guys did, it is one of my fondest moments on these forums... I never found the words to express my gratitude and heartfelt thanks. I still have many of the shots that folks sent me, which sadly never got used for what they were intended... :(

This is my 4500th post, and I'll make it my last.

LL, I've always been a staunch supporter, but I really really hate it when you shoot yourself in the foot. Oh wait...it's US that you're shooting in the foot.

I don't know how many times you've been asked to listen to what the residents want. You pick a panel of Yes men and tell them what you want and then force feed it to us as OUR choice. Bad business.

When I popped in here 4500 posts ago, I found a family who have taught me many, many valuable things. Now you're scattering that family to the winds, and it really makes me unhappy. But hm...do you care? Nah. I'm sure you don't, or you wouldn't have done the stupid move off the vbulletin forums.

Ah well.....good night John Boy.
