Has botting become this common?

Ad in the forums today........

"no limits
no avatar limits, bring as many as you can run
payment cycle of 10 min
low lag enviroment
Noob Friendly
AFK ok
70 Dance pads avaliable plus a few suprises!

come jam to some tunes and make some cash to boot"

Yes it's becoming the norm to run as many campbots as you can.
Welcome to Campbot Life, a world created by residents to feed goldfarmers..............
How do these people make money from sims where the Av's are just campbots?

It's really creepy. I have no idea at all. I stumbled on a camping place yesterday that was surrounded by advertising posters. Is it at all possible that someone is being paid for advertising space? Enough to pay for these bots? Doesn't seem likely to me but I'm willing to believe almost anything at this point.

70? And they expect customers to actually be able to tp in and get to the mall across from the club?

Maybe Botfarms will kill Adfarms if we are lucky.
Maybe they found RL companies dumb enough to pay to advertise in a sim of zombies.
Maybe the zombie armies are reaching their limit, there's only 8 dancers there.
And it's in the upstairs in the middle of a sex club of course, so expect quality lag, 70 pads laid in a square pattern, $1L per 10min.

If people are going to run islands full of zombies, the least they could do is enable damage once a week and stream "Don't Stop Me Now" so the rest of us can visit for target practice.

Bots runners apparantly turn their bots non-physical now which would prevent any shooting, pushing or orbitting them.

So have we established there is a reason for sim owners wanting bot farms? I'd imagine sim owners who find they are hosting one involuntarily will use estate tools to dispose of them but I cannot get the gist of if it's generating revenue, where the heck is it coming from?

It could be an added incentive to pay the ransom for buying out the adfarmer's plot. The really sick thing is that one could stack a *lot* of camping spots on top of a 16sq.m adplot. (It's not rocket science, but I won't explain just how.) Or, of course, one's own bots, which makes it even simpler and cheaper to crowd out the whole sim from 0.00024 of its surface area.

Oh lordy, the apocalypse is coming. Don't give the adfarmers ideas! I am having visions of brightly colored spinning ads topped with dancing naked Ruth zombies stacked up farther than the eye can see into the heavens.

I was talking to a friend yesterday who worked at a place that makes and sells guns and more. They have camping there. She told me that many of the campers buy the goods. That would be one reason.

For a club, a reason would be to have camping to maximise the traffic numbers, but stop it during events.

Take car. Go to mum's. Kill Phil - "Sorry." - grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a whole bunch of goreans, in the long run?

Higher initial downpayment but no steady $L drain like campers...

...and certainly cheaper than one of those pricey ads.

Desmond, most of your ideas are brilliant. So is this one, but there's a catch you might have missed while your tongue was pushing out your cheek.

You're right, it WOULD be cheaper than either running a bot farm, or buying a top spot in the ad queue. And it's amusing to think of a bunch of kajirae populating one's sim, polishing the floors and the brass, running up your traffic figures...and all at, *cough* slave wages.

And there's the catch. You'd reintroduce slavery. It's one thing when it's roleplay, but this would tie it in to the economy, just as the slave trade has always been a factor in the economies of the societies where it was practiced. True, the "slaves" can hit the Quit key any time they want...but still, this idea leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.

Well taking a wild guess..... they turn off the camping when the traffic numbers generated by the camping shows up.... thus bringing in search users. Then they ride the wave a few days and start up the cycle again.

Well that is what i would do if I was going to do it.

I do wish people would specify which Phil the mean :/ Twice on this page, and I've no idea if they mean me, the main man, or someone else. On this particular topic, it could be any of them.
