the easiest way is to set the media tab on your parcel to play music or host media on a server you can access the logs of and whenever anyone comes to you land and plays that media you can then see the IP address that accessed that media

where are these logs? What of people use a shared net? How do you know which one is on or was on etc?

alot of us own our own 'boxes on the interwebs' its not hard at all to do

Any serious relationship has got to be built around trust or it isn't going to go anywhere. If later you find they cheated then that trust was misplaced but you can't expect concrete evidence every step of the way. You have at some point got to take a risk.

There is no "for sure" way. Unless you have a fixed IP address, your service provider will assign you one each time you log on to the internet. So, for most people, the closest you can pin it down is their ISP...which could have a user base of millions.

And that is assuming that you GET their IP address. Second Life is anonymous...finding who someone "really" is is deliberately made difficult, if not impossible.

Myself, I'd let it go...trust your BF unless and until you get some definite reason not to...like if he posts something amorous intended for somebody else's IM window into yours by mistake.

But if you just HAVE to go poking around, chat bugs are a much better way than trying to find out an IP address. Not that I would ever suggest you do such a thing, which is skirting a TOS violation.
