There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

I dropped in to UNIQUE check.
http://slurl.com/secondlife/UNIQUE%20MEGASTORE/68/200/29 I did not try to find that exact skin, but here is a sample of the skins there. Note the texture of the lips and the way the eye shadow is applied. It is not as heavy as the one originally linked but there are several more makeup options for each skin. This just happened to be one of the posters. What gave it away was they cleavage seen in some of Faith's other photos. ![]() It has been touched up a little, but not many place have these out for their skins yet. Here is the one from UNIQUE; it is the full poster that the face above was taken from. ![]() _____________________

No problem.
Be sure and get the demos first. I do not know how much photoshop work has been done on the advertisement or the original picture. _____________________

First impression the OPs picture reminded me of a LF Chai skin, the darker tone with the nightshade or heavy vamp makeup.. can't remember, it's been a while.

Faces ..
10-16-2009 07:38
As a newbie with to much money i have spent money on new skins based on pictures of beautiful women such as above. What i didnt realize is that you are buying the skin and not the face or facial features and they look very different once worn with my current 'face". Is there a place to buy beautiful skins and face combinations also?
Thank you ![]() |

Diane, I know LAQ also sells the shapes they use for the models on the ads. This will match up the face and you can do lillte tweaks or resize the body if you want.
The Soul Skin / Unique ones mentioned above also have a shape with each skin. I do not know if they are mod enabled tho. Also, at the last skin and shape expo I saw a place that sold shapes designed to fit some of the popular skin designers. I do not remember the name of the place but I do remember they were rather pricey. _____________________

ALady does. There are lots more too, but those are a couple I can recall just offhand. What most of us do is first, BUY THE DEMO. Try it with your shape. If you really like it, but it's not *quite* what you want, tweak your shape until it looks fabulous to you. (Save your old shape first, so you can go back to it if you want). When you are SURE the skin/shape combo is what you want, THEN go back and pay money for the skin...usually a fat pack with several makeups. _____________________

I have heard it mentioned before, that some vendors design the shapes for their skins to optimize their appearance for a 2D advert, and the shape isn't completely ideal in 3D. This may or may not be true, and definitely isn't true of every vendor.
Additionally, a small subset of creators may provide "no mod" shapes. While it may protect their slider values, not being able to customize your shape is a huge way to detract from their product. So, just keep these things in mind. Always try demos first, don't be fooled by flashy advertisements, and avoid "no mod" shapes. |

I have heard it mentioned before, that some vendors design the shapes for their skins to optimize their appearance for a 2D advert, and the shape isn't completely ideal in 3D. This may or may not be true, and definitely isn't true of every vendor. I found this to be the case quite a bit. Often even the demo skin package comes with a shape supplied. The trouble is that the creator seems to have spent a lot of time making the face suit the skin, or vice versa, while the rest of the shape is a skeletal freakshow, usually no-mod. It takes some imagination to apply a skin demo to your own shape and visualize how you might tweak you shape to better suit the skin, if necessary. I'm certainly not going to spend a lot of time with sliders every time I try on a demo. I have yet to find a Redgrave skin worth all the raves that place seems to get. So maybe it's my shape ![]() _____________________

Is there a place to buy beautiful skins and face combinations also? Thank you you make your own shape to match whichever skin you like. Yes, a lot of skin places sell shapes too. Redgrave for example, as was just mentioned. I've had luck with their stuff although now I have some chaisuki and other skins too. Since they take their photosourcing from model photographs, their skins tend to look best on 'classically structured' faces especially noses shaped about like the models' pix. Hard to describe. But my more unusual faces in some shapes I've made don't look right with Redgrave at all, and with any shape I've had to try on all their demos. Different skins look good or bad on different shapes, no way around that. |
