AHHHHHhh why does no one tell me about this?! Ok.. if its the breast physics code that is messing this up just disable them in your prefs. edit- prefs - emerald - page 2- effects We have a huge update for this code and will try to get it into a release asap. Next time... someone please talk to me instead of saying how emerald are horrible people , at least that is productive.

It does seem to affect you worst if you have the jiggle turned on while editing a shape. If you turn the jiggle off and edit the shape, all is well. Yes, I'm testing it out. I have Raudf's shape on both of my alts.

From: Conifer Dada Luckily I have many a copy of my shape in each of my outfit folders and I've also given a copy to my utility alt. Did you edit appearance and "save as" to get a copy or just copy & paste in inventory that is essentially just another pointer to the same asset that can be whacked? Having 100 pointers to the same destroyed asset is not going to do anyone any good. I recommend that when you edit appearance the first thing you do is save as a new copy before editing. Then when completed then save. If that one gets whacked you still have the original exactly as it was before you changed anything. I'm having difficulties grasping the concept of any viewer being able to destroy inventory. Sounds like a server side defect of major proportions has been exposed and LL needs to apply priority cycles to debug and correct.

From: Lear Cale I think you mean, " us pervs". I have held off on downloading the latest Emerald because of the preference saving problems that have been reported, so "What do you mean we, white man?"

From: LordGregGreg Back Ok.. if its the breast physics code that is messing this up just disable them in your prefs. edit- prefs - emerald - page 2- effects From this piece of the Emerald notice, it seems that if you EVER turned it on, even if it is off now, you are still at risk: "If you edit appearance while the feature has been enabled, or is enabled, there is a rare chance that your shape will become permanently broken and missing from database." (the bolding for emphasis is mine) Sounds like I should maybe log in with one of my other viewers first and save my shape that way.

Though I also think this is more than a semi-serious bug, I encourage people to think about how organized and responsive LL is when you feel the urge to snap at Emerald devs..

I have Raudf's shape on both of my alts. This seems like it should be a quick and easy fix: Since the bug only happens while in "Edit Appearance" mode, and is likely because the "breast physics" is manipulating shape numbers on-the-fly, then the best solution would be to provide a hook in the Edit Appearance mode so that, when one *starts* to enter Edit Appearance, the breast physics is automatically turned off; and, when leaving Edit Appearance, the last step for the viewer would be to turn breast physics back on if it was on before.

From: LordGregGreg Back Next time... someone please talk to me instead of saying how emerald are horrible people , at least that is productive. No one ever said the team was Horrible People. What is being discussed in this thread and others is how best EMERALD can protect themselves from any bugs that affect people to the point that they wish to take legal action, and to what extent is the Emerald team responsible for the damage that could occur from bugs. If anything, both threads are informative to both the users of Emerald and the Emerald team itself as people offer up ideas and discuss the topic of liability/responsibility which gives you (Emerald team) a barometer to peoples feeling about the issue. And who knows, someone may say something that helps.

I suspect that the key is being corrupted.

From: LittleMe Jewell The jiggling is totally client side and does not affect how people see me, but how I see others. Oh, phoo-ey. So that would explain why mine won't jiggle. Damn, I was so hoping for a little bounce in my step.

From: Lear Cale I doubt that the inventory asset is being whacked. I suspect that the key is being corrupted. This would be a catastrophic defect LL needs to fix. This should not be possible in the code or server side at all. Not even going into the blatantly obvious data architecture 101 aspects of this.

Not even going into the blatantly obvious data architecture 101 aspects of this. That's what I was mumbling about back on post #9 of this thread--before I saw LGG's explanation (in the other thread) that it's all just viewer-side cache corruption. If that's really all this is about, I should think it at *most* "semi-serious."

Okay. This is what happens.
When breast physics are on, it modifies the "breast gravity" shape parameter. When you open edit appearance, it sets it back to the value it was in the original shape. The bug arises from the fact that this setting back to the shape value happens AFTER you begin editing appearance.
When you begin to editing appearance it asks the sim for a fresh copy of the things your wearing. So if you change them before they arrive the viewer freaks out. In the debug log it gives warnings about the asset changing before it arrived from the sim. The viewer takes this as meaning you changed something, and marks the shape to have to be updated. It then wants to upload a new copy of the shape to the simulator and update the inventory item.
Now, when you click cancel/don't save, it does not save this copy, but occasionally tries to update the inventory item ANYWAYS, causing the item to point to a non existent random asset(more specifically, the non uploaded copy you picked not to save). It also corrupts the local viewer cache causing the shapes to fail to load until you relog or clear cache as the inventory item points to the wrong asset locally.
The most viable fix is to make changing the value from inside the code, NOT trigger the shape changed functions so it does not think it needs a new copy and does not update the inventory item to point to something that does not exist.

Thanks much, LGG and Zwagoth, for stopping by! And now that we have your attention, we'll start a thread soon on Emerald wishes XD My own private wish: I wish you'd go back to the draw distance slider in the lower right. I don't really need to twiddle with the rest of the stuff in the quick setup menu you replaced it with, and I personally do my own Windlight settings. I twiddle with draw distance constantly, though!

From: Nika Talaj Thanks much, LGG and Zwagoth, for stopping by! Yep! From: Nika Talaj And now that we have your attention, we'll start a thread soon on Emerald wishes XD /me is happy to derail this thread with a wishlist.. - ONE script window with multiple tabs - script window search should remember caseless and last string searched - beacon for temp objects - beacon for updating objects - something like ARC that includes # of scripts (tho if that's crazy expensive, never mind) - ability to add a comment for people on ban lists (stored on local pc, i guess) - export should include texture name (i think it just includes the uuid) - ability to open an IM session with all the people in a particular group role - anti-poke option (ha! take that Hyang!)
