Actually, furries can be any animal, not just canids.

Furry = any anthropomorphic animal.

Neko = wannabe furry. You aren't quite furry and not quite human.

Thank you, I'll look as I'm always interested in exploring and looking at such stuff. I'd prefer a kitty, though, that looked more like my favorite neko skin. As my favorite neko skin creator closed shop, and as my favorite neko skin does not do the "naughty bits" that well, I'll look closely at the skins.

I think I've been to VooDoo before. Maybe. If so a long time ago. Recall seeing tribal tattoo skins, instead of fur. Was long time ago, and maybe different place, though.

I'm more of a domestic kitty than wild. So skin is of orange domestic kitty. Actual kitty form, though ended up being wild kitty. hehe.

Oh, and most importantly - skin must match furry ears and tail. Love those. They are not the ones in my forum picture. That picture is from something like June 2007.

For domestic cat skins, there are three shops I would recomend.

Jungle Voodoo makes a "tabby" which may fit the bill.

Curious Kitties has a "kitten" avatar (with an excellent cat shape btw) they have tabby, white, grey, black/white, Calico and black.

and ND/MD make a more a nice cat skin too, they also have some cat shapes and if you want to go a bit beyond the 70% mark animorhic prim heads.

All three shops avatars come with basic tails and ears to match, and the Curious Kitties comes with nice cats eye's as well.

I think we can safely say it is different things to different people and all viewpoints are just as valid as each other. Even if there was an official definition of Neko, it has been co-opted and changed now for a popular subculture here in SL.

Arguing about what it is and what it isn't is only going make people feel bad for having their fantasies, or lack of them.

It's SL, you can be what you like. If a neko says their ears and tail are real grown attachments and aren't just little tacked-on accessories, who has the right to deny them? Spoilsports (it's all polygons to me)?

So what is fashion?

1: Because some French accent having, usually homosexual guy in way too tight pants says it is, and call it fashion, which it is, to some.

2: Because you attach objects to your body, and that is always fashion, to some.

3: Because of the brands, and thus having a plus on calling it fashion, while unknown brands will never make it to the fashion lines. because of....umm.. It's only fashion if it's priced way too high?

4: Because it's unique, you could have made it yourself, you identify yourself as you are and or feel, and call it your fashion, because you don't care what others tell you to wear.

I go for option 4.

One, NOT painted middle finger to the masses, and fashion back to the individual.

Oh, that was a RL statement, because SL is probably the same if it comes to fashionable clothing. Fashion sucks, because they always target a small group of people.

Nekos are not fashion statements. Being Neko - years ago - was a philosophy in sl and a lifestyle. It used to be that about 1 percent of sl population were "Neko"BUT only ONE percent of THAT population could really be counted as Neko.
We used to say that we were most closely linked to teh fairies. Maybe that was true.
