Under the "You can't please all the people all the time" category, I LOVE stairs...particularly spiral ones. I love them RL (spiral stairs) so guess that has carried over to SL. I have lived in two homes in SL with spiral stairs (including my current one) and I love using them even with our built in tp feature.

I don't enjoy flying when I shop unless something is waaaayyy up high and there are a lot of people at "ground level." It just loses the "immersion value" for me. So when I see stairs anyplace in SL, I dutifully climb up and down them.

Just my 2 lindens worth ;)
Oh I love spiral staircases too both in RL and SL, to look at they are lovely and in RL space wise they are the best type. However in SL they are a big pain to navigate mostly. I have used some that are definitely better than others though. I would say if you are going to have them make sure you have a good railing to keep the AV from falling off.

I differ from you though in that I love flying, but if lag has a hold on me then I will walk in preference.

Making a store that looks nice and making a store that is convenient to the shopper are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
