From: Oryx Tempel /me whips off her pants and waves them in salute. Does that count? I mean, the Nazi mention was strictly in an informative tone.

Why does so many students consider SL peoples as better guinea pigs than anybody else?
Wouldn't that be because they won't have to go outside and distribute papers to peoples?

From: kate Mistwallow I understand the skepticism....but I'm really just a student trying to earn some extra credit! I'm disappointed I haven't been able to really explore Second Life, my class actually met in SL on Friday night (at the Splittsville Bowling Alley) and I missed out on that (despite trying on 2 different computers).
Anyhow, if you have any desire to give me a little feedback and help me out, I'll post my questions here.
Thanks for your time!
1. What do you enjoy most about participating in Second Life? 2. In what ways does Second Life differ from the "real" world? 3. Do you find it easier or more difficult to talk to other people in Second Life? 4. How do you know if the connections you make in Second Life are sincere? 5. What do you percieve to be the advantages of participating in a virtual community? 6. Are there any disadvantages? Oh sorry Kate I thought your 2nd post was a reply by someone else. 1. Creation, just making stuff in 3D, exploring, meeting people. 2. People in SL ar eless guarded about somethings than in RL, and we can project who we want to be rather than who we look like and maybe are. 3. Easier, people talk more openly to strangers with no ear of consequences and no embaressment on who they are. 4. We don't but I also think the average person has not the skill or desire to be insincere convincingly for any length of time. 5. Can meet a wider range of people and people with similar interests, can try and break out of your normal personality. 6, I keep meeting interesting people who are on the other side of the planet

What do you percieve to be the advantages of participating in a virtual community? 6. Are there any disadvantages? 1. hard to say, but I'm going to go with ability to meet widely diverse cultures. 2. Well, for starters, it's not physical. Flight, looks and shape, species, all are changible. And to put in my personal soapbox ... there is no prejudice other than what YOU bring in. Race, sex, obesiety and all those things that nature forced on you do not play a part on how people percieve you. If people still don't like you, it's your own damn fault, not because you are a redheaded, short, fat, latino or whatever. 3. About the same, maybe a little easier. 4. same is Real Life: you don't. That's why they call it "TRUST." 5. As mentioned above, exposure to widely diverse cultures. It's a global community. a multi-national neighborhood, a cross contentient block party. And don't forget, it's a fast way to socialize. Sit down, log n and there you are. No needed to spend time wondering what to wear, schedualing times to meet with friends, driving across town in bad weather, etc. Just plop down and there you are. 6. The biggest disadvantage, if you can call it that, is the easy of forming a social life online means it is also easy to let your mundane social life wither.

You can be whatever you like in SL - greater autonomy 3. No difference - just the same 4. As in RL, you know by their actions 5. The advantages lie in the expansion of opportunities 6. It is easy (for some people) to get overly involved and neglect important aspects of RL

From: Yosef Okelly So when do we sit and chat in our underware? Or did I misunderstand the meaning of a BRIEF inverview Underwear - what you wear, under. Underware - selling what you wear, under. Underwhere - when you have no idea what you did with what you wear, under. Underwere - lycanthropic panties. Careful where you wear these were-wares.

From: Elora Lunasea Oh? Are the ones you took of me and my ex at my party last January in there too? When the courts release them could I get those back? OMG! I forgot all about that. Hey, you're the one that invited everyone over for a party and then went upstairs for a party of your own. I don't think I kept the pics. I'll check when I get back in and if I do still have them they will cease to exist shortly there after.

Elora, would you rather handle this in IM?
[edit]
Never mind, it's not worth the grief and hurt feelings.
I apologize for taking photos and showing them at the party. It won't happen again.
[edit part two] Aw, to hell with it. I'm pissed. PM sent.
