Never mind the lighting. Never mind the colors. Never mind the ridiculous water. Never mind the white sparklies all over the place.

NOW WE CAN NO LONGER WEAR SKIRTS? Now I am getting mad!

you would think basic clothes functionality was considered during development ..

Ha, someone on SLU had a quote in their sig line with one of the Lindens referring to it as the 'best bug ever.'

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I've found that if you set the time to about 9:30am in the environment settings, it gives a fairly neutral lighting somewhat like the sunrise of before. You can also try turning off atmospheric shaders which seems to be responsible for all the strong lighting.

yeah, thats not surprizing.

I bet if a bug appeared that accidentally shrunk their "package" size it would have been fixed in less than a day.

Yes, this IS the new Windlight. LL has incorporated Windlight into the new everyday client. It's the big new thing, after ages and ages of testing.

Oh, and to vote for a remake of the avatar mesh:

https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3432

I didnt know that thank you so much for telling me and now that you mention it I do notice that the day can be changed like windlight and I can alter the orange look a bit. I tried windlight in the past and liked the look of it but I couldnt move well at all just very jerky slow movements so had to go back to the regular viewer. This way I have both in one and I can walk and fly fine . I dont know if this is better or not in many ways but at least its a change. Still I feel like I need to alter my skin look a little to suit this new lighting.

Didn't they say the same thing about LaserDiscs?

I came across this after visiting Onyx's suggested Jira - it works well and I suppose this will just have to do until LL fixes the avatar as people are suggestin.

This only fixes it for you, everyone else still sees that horrid harsh shadowing on the avatar face.

I must be the only happy resident... the water looks amazing, the sunset is gorgeous (even if way more bright than RL... but if I want a perfect sunset, I'll look at a RL one dammit!) and I'm still sexy as hell. My skin looks a bit more sunkissed... and I won't complain about that for sure.

Happy happy me!

Be careful, the Lindens might hunt you down, stuff you and put you on display in their offices :p.

No, you're not, a lot of people love Windlight, and have since it was first tested.

But if you don't like Windlight, you can just switch it OFF??? Just disable atmospheric shaders.

As a long-time hobby photographer with her own dark room I can also state that yes, sunlight isn't always "white" and yes, there ARE fancy shadows and clouds and lighting effects in reality. I DO get out a lot!

Re. desert: This is what desert lighting at noon looks like:

And these are fancy clouds in the desert....

(I did remark about them looking like Windlight clouds at the time)

I might go and scan a few current photographs of weird clouds at sunset that I did in January...

Funny enough, I can wear system skirts just fine-and I have a lot of them.(Yes, there ARE designers that make lovely system skirts....)

Proud owner of a Kodak Disc camera. If I need prints from my negatives, I have to do that myself in MacGyver fashion....

Maybe its my monitor.
