new thread can not find the old one... re iron perth

Hi all.

some of you may remember my post concerning iron perth and a couple games I bought from there, and the games having errors...

I am still trying to get a hold of iron perth, to no avail, I drop a notecard on him at least once every few days, but still no reply.

If anyone knows iron perth, and knows how to get in touch with him, please please let him know that his games (ducks shoot and bumpertag) are giving me errors and not working properly.

duck shoot totally unusable, bumpertag is useable but the textures not working correctly.

Thanks in advance, I am at a loss as to what else to do

if he has me muted that is like extremely bad customer service, the only thing I ask is to have my games that I purchased work properly

the only other time I spoke with him was back when I bought the pool table and dart board and all was good then

no reason to mute me

I had been using ironperth's Transaction Manager for a while and a few weeks ago it stopped working. I kept getting an error message that said something to the effect that Adobe Apollo (which the Transaction Manager used) was no longer supported and to contact the creator for an update. Digging a little deeper, I found some info that let me know that Adobe Apollo was being upgraded to Adobe AIR and that systems using Apollo would need to upgrade to the new system/program/whatever. Checked the ironperth forums and found this thread:

So my guess is this:

Maybe a lot if not all of this guys stuff used Adobe Apollo and he is in a frenzy trying to upgrade all his stuff to get it working again. One would imagine he is currently getting a LOT of really unhappy IM's that he could take a lot of time to answer, or he could be getting busy trying to fix things.

Or he said "fuck it", threw up his hands and walked away.

Either way, I would keep an eye on the ironperth website :

I don't think that an item in SL would use that program

my error is when it tries to rez part of the game, it can't find it (it was no copy, so first time it rezed, I derezed it to move it, and tried re rezzing it and it gave me the error

the item needed to be copy, that is an error on the perms,. same with the bumpertag game, it looks for a texture that apparently was not there as I got that error right away

*sigh* I been watching his forums for over 2 weeks

when I first posted here 2 weeks ago, ppl suggested give it a few days, do not panic at least for a week

I guess I just need to chalk it up as lost money, 5K gone poof

(and I know of 1 other person who is having same problem, not sure how many more might be having same problem)

iron perth contacted me, no explanation as to why it took so long (and I did not expect one) but he did get in touch

he sent me th faulty games and sadly they are still faulty, I sent him another notecard to let him know

now we will see how long before he recontacts me

Linden Lab have, on many occasions, broken something totally unconnected when something else was 'updated'. To blame a content creator for something that may be totally beyond their control, not their fault, which they may be frantically trying to get working again (slowed down by every irate customer that gets in touch with the same threats and complaints which are not of his making).

Whilst I have no connection with Iron, I do feel I have to say that I think you are being rather hard on him, especially over what is only $20 after all. It may seem a lot to you, but knowing a number of people who create stuff for SL, it works out at pennies an hour for development time - not including, of course, their own overheads of tier, premium account etc. Most content creators actually work at a loss each month, but do it because they enjoy doing it.

I'm glad the Transaction Manager is the only thing I have. It doesn't work anymore but at least the beta was free.

I've left IMs, a few msgs on the forums, and an Email.

Ignoring customers isn't a great business practice.

That's a risk Iron and other content creators take. There's a lot more to keeping people happy than creating content. You should actually support it and not completely disappear. It's no secret that his stuff isn't supported, but unfortunately for most it's after they pay for a product that doesn't work.

I made 2 threads you consider that repeatedly?

and on the first thread which I lost track of, I was concerned about his well being as I have dealt with him in the past and he was never this slow or this seemingly uncaring

it is not as much the money, as it is the total lack of disregard of a customer

If I treated my customers like that, then I would just not be selling anything AT ALL, because I would not feel comfortable doing so

apparently I am not the only one with a problem

and it is funny how the ppl (generally speaking) in these forums can be so 2 faced, on one hand ppl are advised to send note card, and im's to business owners or content creators when there is a problem with a product, but on this situation, me sending him note cards (about once a week on average, I am by no means flooding him with im's or note cards) is unacceptable

make up your minds, should ppl send note cards and im's to the business owner/content creator or not

and I know it is not a big thing to fix, the errors tell me what the problem is, which I in turn told him, a simple permissions error on stuff that is in the object that rezzes the item

oh well, as I said I give up, so now would be a good time to either lock this thread, or stop replying to it, and let it die a slow painful death.

and the other game is not a texture issue

It's not necessarily what we think you are doing, it's a matter of what the forum policy is and possible action afterwards. Generally other posters will do a little reminder when it occurs. What happens after that point is up to the OP.

I as the OP, now choose to just let it go, after nearly 2 months, time to just let it go (was interesting though looking at the old thread, ppl were saying give it a few days LOL)

I think there are one or two people in sl who could do with grasping the idea of customer service but then maybe lindens could set a better example first and let the idea of giving decent service cascade.

Personally I get the feeling some 'creators' in sl think that their responsibility stops at bunging a notecard in with an object they sell and putting the words read the notecard on the vendor information.

Im no tech and dont mind admitting I might like to discuss the ins and outs of goods I buy. Im a bit peeved when salespeople cant take time with people whove spent money. No matter how seemingly trivial or erroneous a customers ideas may be.
