From: Jesse Barnett nah After a few years of reading Briana's posts(of which some I don't agree with), I had a suspicion that what she wrote and what she really believes may have been at odds. That's why I didn't jump all over her. I think she redeemed herself rather well in her follow up posts both here and in the rezzer thread. Yea what i wrote was how i used to feel. I did not mean for that to come out that way, and only after it was quoted did i even realize i said something so dumb. My computer tech life did not start until SL. Before then i had been a Mac user since the age of 11 so i was pretty much anti-computer tech because i was taught it was supposed to be all inclusive in the box - the uncrackable box.

From: Argent Stonecutter Hey! I'm a Mac user.
So was the bookseller I mentioned earlier. I got my first Mac when i was 11, it was 1985, a 128k Mac, with an external 400k drive, 1200bps modem, and an Apple Imagewriter printer. The next year i got a 512ke and then the Plus along with a Paradise 10meg hard drive. I've had a Mac all my life up until 2000 where the Navy basically forced me to ditch my G3 for a PC or stay aboard a carrier until midnight. Right now in my closet sits a Mac Portable. Wish i could afford one now! Wanting a more Mac like experience is why i switched to Ubuntu. Unfortunately my ATI + UBU + SL = not so fast an experience so i have been using Vista.

From: Briana Dawson It helps to finish reading a thread before post a reply to something that was retracted. *scratches head* I thought it was rephrased instead of retracted...

From: Nikki Clarity None of it worked guys. It's not totally clear which "its" you've tried. Have you reformatted from scratch and reinstalled your OS? What happened then? -- Aes

From: Nikki Clarity None of it worked guys. That can only be true if you *didn't* do all of it. There is no way that formatting the hard drive doesn't work, so you haven't tried everything, and saying that "none of it worked" isn't true. Have you tried any of the sites that have been suggested, where you can be individually helped by people? I honestly doubt it. If you did, what did they say? You are wanting to buy a new computer, so you have already deicded that everything on the current computer is gone for good. Formatting the hard drive will achieve exactly the same thing - all is gone - so you don't need a new computer. All you need is an operating system, and there are plenty of posts in this thread explaing how to get/do that. You don;t need any more help. To be honest, I am not convinced that this whole thing is what you say it is. The matter-of-fact statement that, "None of it worked guys" isn't going to get you any money, so you might as well give up or, if you really do have the problem you claim, format the hard drive and do as has been suggested enough times in this thread. I'm sorry that I'm being harsh if you really do have a problem, but this whole thing just doesn't sound right to me. Why, for instance, is Firefox the only programme that will run? It's very convenient, of course, because it allows posting in forums. I'm sorry, but I'm not convinced at all.

From: Nikki Clarity None of it worked guys. Your silly *giggles* This post just shows you didn't try anything! Reformatting and reinstalling windows wipes out your entire computer, Never mind "fixing" the virus problem. Think of it as making your computer like you just bought it and turned it on for the first time.

Alternatively, she did reinstall and the problem wasn't a virus at all, but rather failing hardware.

I clicked on reformat (right click C: format) nothing happened.

Of course Windows won't format itself away from under it's own ass. *sighs* Please, get someone who knows more about computers than how to switch them on to do this for you. It's easy to tell the system how to boot from cd (if one knows what one is doing, that is) and format and reinstall.

From: Briana Dawson Most women don't move on in post graduate to become advanced mathematician's or physicist, or programmers, civil engineers, or even construction workers - and there are probably more women in construction than are physicist/programmers/civil engineers these days - especially if you head down south and this information is not new. I did not say ALL women, but working/employment statistics show that those are predominately male dominated fields of employment. And why is that? Probably because, even in the 21st century, stereotypes about "a woman's place being in the kitchen" still persist - and it's not even always men that are perpetuating it! For starters, take a look at the stuff our kids watch on TV. Pay particular attention to the commercials. Note the differences between commercials pitching "boy" stuff vs. commercials pitching "girl" stuff. Yes, even in 2009, our kids are still getting spoonfed the stereotypical crap, and they grow up "pre-programmed" for these stereotypical roles. But enough about that. Honestly, I believe a majority of non-technical women refuse to learn the "techie" stuff either because technically-inclined girls tended to be shunned in high school, or because a lot of these women actually like the idea of being dependent on a man to do stuff for them! Not THIS chick! I may ask for help or advice when I get stuck, but I fix my OWN shit, tyvm!

Because our egos are sooooo damn big we could never admit to being inferior to a gurl... in any way... except maybe two or three. Now git back in the kitchen and make me some biscuits!
