Ok, I know I should know this, and for the life of me I am brain dead this morning.
(stuffy head can not think)

anywho just updated to the newest release version and when I wear my ZHAO the release key button is over in the left lower side of the screen, under the history box, where usually the little im button would appear.

The release keys button never much bother me before, but this location will drive me nuts, thinking I have an im there.

HOW do I remove that stupid thing but still keep the ZHAO active (worn)
I know I should know. I tried clearing cache and rebooting but it is still showing up

any ideas?

I am using the new version just came out the 1.19 and I also noticed that the voice chat enabled icon that usually shows by the land name at the top of the window, is missing

I have posted it in the jira

also when talking to Dan Linden about it I tried enabling and disabling a few times and then when trying to disable I got this msg
[9:55] Voice not available at your current location

so I then switched to the other viewer I use and it was perfectly fine with that one

wonder just how many bugs there will be

LOL

and what is up with the little button on the far left to open the chat box??? enter does that just fine

Sorry Rha, you can't have your AO without the "release keys" button appearing. If your AO didn't take that control, your AO would stop working whenever you went in a "no scripts" area. I don't remember whether it needs that for other purposes as well, and it might.

Lots of complaints on the blog about this one. Apparently there's no way to move it back, or get rid of it. I don't think I have EVER used that button to do anything that I needed to do - i agree with the suggestions there to move it to be a menu item like "stop all animations"

Oh, one positive thing - if I am reading it correctly, doing a TP effectively now does a stop all animations. So if you were dancing like a lunatic (or something even more embarrassing!) before the tp, you should be at the most normal version of yourself when you land... I think that will be an improvement.

If there is a JIRA for removal of the button, please post a link here so we can all go and vote for it.

Which could mess up attachments that make an avatar carry something, no?

Good point. I guess scripters will have to check for CHANGED_TELEPORT and reapply any animations they want to persist through teleports.

One of the wonderful fixes in Nicholaz's browser was getting rid of that button entirely, maybe LL will catch up one day? ;)

This new 1.19 viewer is the candidate/windlight viewer right? After pushing through about 20 503 errors, I went to the RC download page and it had the 1.18 still listed there.

/me points to http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2890

From: VWR-2890
Hide the Release Keys button. Currently, whenever a scripted object takes your control input, a button marked "Release Keys" appears at the bottom of the screen. Clicking this button releases the controls, and if the items are attached, removes them. Presumably so they can't just re-request

Unfortunately, this buitton can cause problems. Being that it's right there with the media controls, and the chat bar, it's all too easy to click it accidentally, which suddenly results in you being striipped of many attachments. Not fun.

I think this should be changed a little. For example, moving it to the tools menu, next to stop all animations. It would be good to still have a visible indicator thiough, but this would get around the problem of accidentally clicking it.

Perhaps for simplicity, it would be nice to simply have an option to enable or disable that button in preferences, so people like me who are annoyed by it can disable it, and just use it through the tools menu if necessary.

It's Stipend Super Tuesday! Vote!!!

doesn't make sense, it would not show the release keys before, and still work

now it shows it, so no idea

and it worked in non scripts areas too, even when the button did not show...

just seems to be with the new release 1.19

I have always seen a "Release Keys" button - they just moved the position in the newest version.

I know how to remove the "Release Keys" button.
Pretty easy.. heres an howto:

Quit Second Life
Go to your root second life directory (C:/Program Files/SecondLifeWindLight)
Go to skins/xui/en-us/
Look for a file named: panel_overlaybar.xml
Open it in a text-editor
Delete the following

<button bottom="1" follows="left|bottom" font="SansSerif" halign="center" height="20"
label="Release Keys" label_selected="Release Keys" left="229"
name="Release Keys" scale_image="true"
tool_tip="A script has taken control of your keys. Click here to release them."
width="102" />

Save the file
Open second life and log in, presto, button gone.

Theres a slight catch, once Second Life gets updated again, and changes are made to the UI, its most likely that the button will be there again and you'll have to delete it from the XML file again..
Other then that, its working for me.

I have added the following commentary explaining further why it is driving me nuts:

'm experiencing this with the newest windlight release (I don't see it on 1.18.3.5). The release keys and stand up buttons seem to auto align to the left now. Habit dictates that if there is minimized window in that position it means you have an IM window open to deal with and you click it before you realize it isn't your Communicate window, or miss the Communicate window and you've now disabled your HUD or stood up in the middle of a meeting and disrupted things. This is a disruptive and non-intuitive change to the UI and should be put back to where the release keys/stand up buttons have fixed locations or is otherwise not located with such proximity to the minimized communicate window.

I never disable my HUD or AO with release keys, but I do use the stand up button when it is active, so the one could go to a menu/shortcut key combo, but I would like the stand up button back fixed center like it was, or at least be able to reposition it and have the client remember the fixed location.

Been messing with xui files for a while now, great stuff in there. I highly recomend checking out the other files, you can potentently re-design the UI with them. For example I remove the Quit button from the login screen. Serves no purpose AFAIK.

It was always kind-of inconsistent. The first time you wear an attachment that takes your controls, I think it would show up. If you TP or relog while still wearing the attachment, the button would go away, even though the attachment retained control permissions. Or something like that, I don't remember the exact pattern any more. But I've definitely seen that button.

The standup button over on the far left in RC 1.19 is not working.

I sat on rotating cube in the midst of a bunch of other rotating cubes and I'm sure that anyone with motion sickness sensitivity would be throwing up bigtime and the misplaced stand up button doesn't work.

Sheesh.

Ah it might be that i'm right on a sim border.

Then you must have had a bug before. Seriously, any script that takes "controls" permission causes this button to pop up. For me, it's just to the left of center on the bottom of the screen. Scripts have no way to avoid this.

Or perhaps you were playing with XUI earlier and it got deleted until updating your viewer? That would account for what you say.
