Unable to login due to "Inventory service unavailable"

Is anyone else having this issue? Were you able to fix it? If so how?


I tried clearing my cache, and rebooting, I can't think of anything else. The issue happened suddenly after a crash.

I think this is widespread.. worse problem than yesterday..at least then I could get an alternative avatar in..today, I can't get in at all!!

FWIW, the current "Inventory unavailable" log-in dump seems to be avatar-age related. Amras logs in fine but his (younger) video tutorial avatar assistant hits the inventory wall.

Second full day with no access to SL...can I survive???
At least I get a chance to read all the Forum stuff!! Judging from the number of posts, I am not the only one retreating to this area!!
Seriously - If this was "commercial" software, SL would be out of business!!
They are lucky there is no real alternative!!
In the meantime...mmm what's this about the effect of sporadic e-skip on the distance between a duck's feet...? must read.....

Here's the workaround: works 100% of the time:

Bring up SL
Check the "Remember my password" button
Type your login info
Hit Enter
(system will attempt to log you in)
If it fails, the dialog comes up - Hit Enter and it goes away.
NOW HERE'S THE GOOD PART:
Keep hitting Enter...
Enter
Enter
Enter
Enter
Enter
etc.

Eventually, you get in. Like on the 6th try. Works EVERY TIME.

Hey!! Thanks April!! Ok, I had to hit Enter maybe 15 times!! But each time the slider moved a bit further to the right, and then....i'm in!!

It's not working for me =( I'm beginning to wonder if its still the inventory problem that I'm having. I upgrade to the newest version last night thinking that might help the problem and now all I get is "Unable to connect to Second Life. Despite our greatest efforts..." blah blah. I can even enter the wrong name and pass and it not even pick up on that.

So I made an alt account since I noticed some people saying that those were working, but yet it didn't work here either. I've tried relogging on until my bar is completely full and that still doesn't help. Any suggestions? I'm starting to think I should've never installed the upgrade because now I can't go back to the one I had, it makes me upgrade now =(

Adrianna, I would wait it out a little longer; LL are obviously still having problems. I am able to get in world with this avatar, but unfortunately I am unable to sign in on another account that I've been building with (Sod's law I can't gain access with the one I need!). So, what ever the problem, it still exists, and it seems to affect some accounts while others remain unaffected.

If your inventory server was the one that died, I'm not so sure it's a great idea to try and sneak in through a back door while they're working on it if you value your inventory.

Worked here also - it seemed to be forcing the authentication through. And my alt's inv is intact, which is nice.

Good information! I was trying to log in as my alt who is only a couple months old. My main has no trouble, thank goodness.
