I've requested the sources for his viewer 3 times now. Under GPL he is required to provide identical sources for each binary he published and he failed to do so. He ignored/deleted my requests but still mentioned them in his latest post, still failing to provide the sources. http://neillife-lol.blogspot.com/

He's only required to provide sources for people he provided the binaries to. Did you download it directly from his site?

He puts up the binaries every time he releases a new version, but instead of posting the sources that make those builds, he puts some cryptic note about "I've posted the links to the source somewhere on my blog already; if you're really smurt, you can find them", which is basically a lie. He hasn't posted any source code packages since his 4.2 version, and I have searched his blog VERY thoroughly.

Basically, he's in violation of the GPL. All it would take is a DMCA takedown notice from LL to BlogSpot, and that would shut him down.

But LL would have to be interested in going after such people and we all know how interested LL has been in the PN so the real solution I guess is if you don't like having your stuff ripped off then stop putting content and money into second life. If everyone stopped paying money then LL might get real interested. Probably not. They seem to be heading in a direction that doesn't involve having customers or a free market. Just a few friends they call power sellers and then hope they can attract wide eyed noobs with fresh credit cards. Or something like that.

They probably have a pile of people who can keep the DMCA notices going out day and night faster than he can set up new accounts.

Even still, they can file a suit any time they want. He's in violation, no doubt about it. Thing is, all he has to do to comply is post the source links that go along with the binaries, and he'll be OK.

It's really not the point of what you're getting at, but just to get compliance out of him regarding posting source code properly. The resident content infringement issue is tangential to it.
