I'm sorry if this question has been asked a million times before but I searched the forum as best I could and couldn't find anything.
I downloaded the wire mesh avatar that Second Life suggests people can use to trest clothing mapping on before uploading them to SL, but I don't have a modelling program to work it on. Can anyone recommend one that allows me to test my clothes out before uploaded them to SL? Preferably one that is free, and maybe supported by some tutorials on how to use it effectively for SL.
Thank you.

Thank you. Someone else pointed out that you can do the uploads on the Beta Grid, where they give you oodles of play money. Saves cash!

the free program is called slcp but you have to draw the clothes in a graphics program first
and the other way is to use the beta grid although the slcp is good if you are trying to match something up one painstaking pixel at a time...

Second life has actually made for download, Poser compatible Models of it's Avatars. Poser is an excellent program for previewing, But it costs a bit.

Try AVPainter
You can do a search in SL for it, there's a free demo also.
