How to offer Gift Certificates

I've searched all over but give up. I am sponsoring an event Monday and would like to offer gift certificates rather than merchandise. So far I've only found a couple of options and they require special vendors.

Is there an easy system for setting up gift certificates or an easy script? I thought I'd find something in the script section but had no luck there.

I read somewhere you can do it through SLX but I cant find it there.

Thanks

Well.. though not 100% safe, you could offer something that you could wear to interact with a camper-like system that paid that amount =/

Umm..hmm...lesse... you could just have them go through you =P

You could have it so that... hmm.. if the correct item was dropped in, then it would give its contents (Or w/e), and then delete the item so that the next person couldnt just take it free too

Bradley and I have been talking about this via PM and for anyone interested in the same topic, here's what I've seen around:

Make a texture that says "Bradley's Bric-a-Brac, L$300 gift certificate."

Add that to a prim, say a nice card size. Make the prim no copy, no mod, trans.

When the winner receives the prize, he or she can "use" it by sending it back to Bradley, wherein he would give the person the object requested, and pay them any remaining value.

If the prize recipient wants to give the prize (aka gift cert) to a friend, it's trans, but no copy, so that Bradley won't get shafted by multiple cards.

Bradley can also put this prim up for sale in his shop, set to sale for the value of L$300, sell a copy of the prim. The purchaser would then get a copy of the prim with the texture, and can give it to a friend for a gift.

I know there is a place inworld to get a notecard certified. They keep a copy and you end up with one that's no mod, no transfer. But I think the service costs L$100 per notecard.

Why not just give out no copy notecards with individual serial numbers? Or no copy, no mod prims with individual notecards attached. Or no copy, no mod certificate objects where you change the serial number in the object discription. Or is that what Oryx just suggested?

Don't forget Monday is the BCS championship football game...

Thank you Oryx, you've been a big help. I also happened to find this thread:

From reading through it, it pretty much says what you did. Making a simple prim certificate is the best way to go.

Thank you to everyone for your responses.

as a double protection, in contents put another prim 'no mod' with a texture on it exclusive to you.

this is exactly what I do for gift certificates

That's pretty much what I did with the gift cards I made for some events I sponsored. Tho, mine was with no mod/no copy scripts put in the card prim so that I could number each card for tracking and security.
