..... Almost all of my prim skirts do use a system skirt for a base, as (to me) it makes the prim skirt sit more gracefully. ...
This definitely makes the skirt look better for sitting and a lot of different movements also -- if only that darn waist did not gap.

....
That is a problem. I have seen women in SL who were wearing a jacket and skirt, and it looked like their jacket was tucked into their skirt, or cut off at the top of the skirt. And, I don't know if you noticed, but a woman at the political discussion we both attended a few days ago, took off her jacket and the bottom part of her jacket stayed on the skirt.
....
Does this mean that the Jacket layer goes on top of the pants layer, but under the skirt layer? That is just plain odd.

Mary, in RL your butt is not big.

Thank you Thalic. That is very nice.

I didn't see her-at least I didn't see her skirt. I have a skirt in my inventory that I can't wear unless I am wearing the particular jacket whose bottom is painted onto the skirt. A real waste--it is a nice skirt.

I just bought and am now wearing your Pencil Skirt. It looks very good, particularly with a top that I just made.

Yes, it does... and yes, it is odd!

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Thanks, everybody, for the good information about skirts. Because of the problems with skirts I usually only wear pants. In particular, I only use pants suits rather than skirted suits.

Just to check, I tried clothing made with the appearance dialog. The top of pants started just at the bottom of shirts. Jacket bottoms fell over pants. Skirts went over the bottoms of jackets, rather than under. Skirt tops were also higher than waists, and covered the tails of shirts.

I would think that jackets would go over skirts just as they go over pants. Seems strange.
