I suppose it's the backround that the clothing creators use, but my whole body is covered with them. It is happening with almost all of my clothing (especially the ones from major designers). I downgraded my viewer and it's still happening. And to think I threw away all my Armidi stuff.

Could it be you are wearing your active screen? Does it look like your SL window?
Ctrl+Alt+D brings up more settings, try in Character, Rebake Textures

When reinstall SL do you del the temp files 1st in
C:\Documents and Settings\yourcompusername\Application Data, then unistall SL?

I had friend one time who kept seeing her friends webpage all over things.
Weird stuff happens, I got no clue why. I feel your pain. I never experience that but other things.
Recently I have been stuck as ugly girl with brown hair wig with my butt up in the air, with nothing working often I have to relog several times to fix it.

System specs.

Make and model of computer , or make and model of motherboard if it's a homebrew or a storebought with a changed motherboard.

Processor type and speeed

Amount of ram memory

Video card make and model or integrated graphics processor

Amount of video ram

Exact version number of SL viewer.

Sounds familiar, there have been threads about parts of clothes with alpha textures showing beyond where they should be, and it's been a video driver problem, but I can't recall which make and model of video card of driver version number was the problem.

I had a bad avatar issue once.. ruthed, naked and could not put anything on..

Advanced/character/character tests/Test Male

That Fixed it.. made me a noob again.. but then I could put my 'normal' skin and shape back on.. it might be worth a try.

I had been told inworld that it was due to a connection problem. Might try a router and modem reset.

There is also an on going huge issue with some of the latest nVidia drivers. I just had to replace my graphics card and even tho I updated to a better card......the drivers are what's causing some serious texture issues. Many of the clothes (and a couple skins) will not bake properly and I either get a solid color all over the upper or lower body (depending on which layer I'm wearing as clothes) or a get the weird text.

There is a JIRA on this issue... this could be what's happening, and no fix yet for it. :(

"Using the new line of beta drivers from nvidia 177.79 made available recently Some clothing will not function in hardware or software skinning mode in sl correctly. Clothing layers will be uneditable & area's of the clothing texture that should be culled by clothing item dial controls [and in some instances alpha culling*] show the complete texture. For example a pair of jeans on pants layer that should cut off just after the knee, continue past that point & even have space filler texture over the avatars feet as if the avatar is wearing a sock layer even if one isn't visible. While the driver is an optional beta for the majority of cards at the moment, the mandatory driver for GTX260 & GTX280 cards also share this same bug as far as can be seen. Also of note is that the login screen, elements on it may sometimes not be visible & be black instead, like second life statistics, blog links etc. Bug persists even after a complete uninstall & reinstall of the viewer & rebake/appearance has no effect on the problem.

Issue is also present on the default viewer.

8th July 2008 Update:

Issue also present on xp32bit on the whql 177.39 drivers on a 9800GTX

8th August 2008 Update:

Issue also present on Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp.080413-2111) using driver versions 177.35, 177.39 or 177.41 in conjunction with a GTX 280."

I've been having a somewhat similar issue since the last update. My clothing and/or skin will suddenly take on the texture of the wall/floor etc behind me or even one of my HUDs. I have to Rebake to get it to go away and then it will happen again periodically and I have to keep Rebaking every time. It's weird.

Related to this thread or not, I have noticed a couple of times that objects I create have somehow managed to suddenly display parcel media, as they've taken on the default media texture even though they should have the default plywood texture. We're talking freshly created prims, in this case they were sculpted, and I hadn't even touched the texture tab on the edit tools.

I have an older ATI radeon card, not nVidia.

Unfortunately nVidia has been cranking out new hardware faster than than they can write stable drivers for it. (this is to compete with ATI which has been doing the same). Everything after the 8800's have been a mess.

With a 9600 I *think* you can go back to the 175 version of the driver and be OK, but I'm not positive. Some people have reported issue with Vista anyway tripping over itself.

With the 260 right now it looks pretty bad. This extends outside of just SL. The heavy gamerz have been trying all sort of crazy things and last I knew of success was hit or miss at best. (remove one stick of RAM?!? ) AFAIK your options are pretty limited. 1) ignore it and hope nVidia fixes their drivers soon. 2) return the card and get an 8800 (and don't use the 177 drivers). 3) use a different machine to change your clothes and then don't touch them on the affected machine (the issue crops up in SL during baking). 4) wear long pants and long-sleeve turtlenecks. ;)

@Zaphod, that's a whole 'nother beast. I have no clue.

I guess I'll just have to wait? SL needs to fix this too, though.

Vista. It's not unique to any OS. Apparently, even other people who don't use the cards can see this bug on other persons.

Could this flavor of the problem be a server-side issue? My partner and I had a very similar parcel media problem happen after visiting a place with a really irritating cartoon running; frames from the film seemed to replace the default texture, we saw it everywhere as things rezzed. Sometimes it didn't go away. We both have Nvidia cards, I was running an old Nicholaz BE client, my partner a new LL client. We tried several sims, many without media enabled at all, and saw frames from the cartoon on random prims.

Went away when we logged.

I have seen the parcel media texture baked on My avatar also. For me it was a problem with my Quicktime installation.
